Good and effective

Wes, Amazon
12 November 2012
  • Summary: Although it is working a bit slow through the wifi, the benefit is really good. It is possible to save all files in the storage and have access that via network. Auto-Backups are really amazing.

  • Summary: I have had this drive on my network for a couple of weeks, and I am generally pleased with it. My PC identified it immediately, and I could access it from any computer on my local network. A problem arose when I tried to enable drive security from a Windows XP workstation.

User Review

Miguel G., Newegg
2 April 2012
  • Summary: Hardware is pretty good software not so much
  • Pros: Easy setup, works well with Windows XP, Vista and 7, works even better with Ubuntu and a HTPC running XBMC and a really good price for 2TB, you can add usb hard drives and use them as additional storage in your NAS or add a usb printer and have a network printer.
  • Cons: Web interface is slow and badly designed every click wants to open another tab or window, it would have been nice if you could manage files instead of just viewing and deleting them. Torrent software is a joke it's there but just barely, you can install the Iomega Storage Manager but it adds no v...

Good for the price!

Randy G., Newegg
29 December 2011
  • Summary: The drive is good for normal everyday use, its just if you have alot of files to transfer to the dive you need to turn services off to free up the ram and processor. When you turn the services off the kernels for the services are stopped and thus freeing up available memory for the large and long...
  • Pros: Cheap, large storage capacity drive along with a good solid case and construction. The unit arrived to me very quick and was in perfect mechanical and cosmetic appearance. Got the drive online in about 30mins or so with few problems.
  • Cons: Its not that the drive is under-powered its just not a high powered processor or ram. If you are trying to run all of the service on the unit it will not be able to keep up. Once the unit runs out of ram due to high usage with media service and others on it will crash and be unable to respond to ...

More good than bad

Lawrence P., Newegg
22 August 2011
  • Summary: Overall, I like this little device.
  • Pros: Set up was pretty simple across multiple machines. In addition, there seems to be a handful of common problems people run into all of which are thoroughly discussed and solved online. Quick Google search fixed most problems.
  • Cons: Moving a large collection of files is brutally time-consuming and I can't seem to get the machine to accept an ftp connection. There is little to no documentation, from Iomega or other users, available online for this. I have all of the proper services and settings turned on so I am assuming I am...

Set up was a little odd, but works well

Mark F. Kitson, Amazon
13 June 2011
  • Summary: Received and installed quickly. The set up instructions were a bit vague. I finally just set it up using windows network drive options and it works fine. A week after setting it up I had to power cycle it, but since then it's work flawlessly.

No real issues

Amazon Customer, Amazon
12 June 2011
  • Summary: I have had this device for over two years and have had no problems. It seems to run a little hot according to what the drive is reporting its self. I thought the drive was very easy to setup, yet I haven't tried Iomegas' cloud portion. I am not sure how intrusive they are.

Exactly What I Needed

KHAMSOUKRAV S., Newegg
18 March 2011
  • Summary: The first thing is to set permissions and folders first before moving files onto the drive. Else, if you move files as user "Everyone", user "Everyone" is the owner. And when you remove user "Everyone" from the permissions and set yourself up as administrator only access, the user "Everyone" is...
  • Pros: + Suprisingly quiet! + Streams fast to all my home media! e.g. PS3, XPBOX, iPhone + The cloud feature is convenient; remove access so I can access my files from anywhere, share files with friends and family; all this without having to turn on my home PC! + Works well with my Mac and PC! + Automat...
  • Cons: - GUI is good, but could be better
