Summary: Could not get it to install using the wizard despite several attempts on different machines, updated the firmware and still no joy. Dlink 'support' are no help at all. Drive is recognised through Windows but can't get onto myDlink, so no cloud functionality which defeats the point of buying it in the first place. Spent 20 minutes on the phone with 'support', a complete waste of time. Would not recommend this product or dlink support.
Cons: I can only connect on the home network. From an outside nework, I do get the user interface but it doesn't accept my password, so I cannot get access to my data. Asked for support. They just told-me port 80 must be opened. That, I knew, port 80 WAS opened and I dit get the UI! Since that time, they do not even answer my quetions: support = zero+zero+zero!
Pros: Does some things OK, not great Bought from Newegg about a year and half ago.
Cons: Does not do much of what is says well. I have not been able to use as a file share device, and I have it working with uPNP DLNA video until the last update which now that does not work at all. I would look at other brands. D-Link support is not great, every ticket I open was factory reset for format the drives to fix the problem, which it never did. Their tech support is not very helpful.
Summary: Look elsewhere, I should have sent them back while I still had the chance.
Pros: Simple, has many nice features, mostly reliable
Cons: Has connection issues with large file transfers, random drops, slow performance. The recycle bin feature appears to not work as I have hundreds of GB lost to a recycle bin I cannot access or empty and support from D-Link is terrible. I have contacted them twice with no responce to my troubles.
Summary: I purchased as a network storage drive, the first one was DOA and killed the SATA drive that I plugged in. The replacement worked for a while off and on but died when I tried to add the second drive, now neither slot works.

Summary: Received today and attempted to install. I am computer savvy and did the usual troubleshooting steps such as ping the router, restart all devices, change out network cable, etc. All checked out but their setup software could not connect the device to the computer being used to set-up. The first tech support (TS) had language issues and read from the script. Finally got to 2nd tier TS who said return.
Summary: Like another purchaser who also lives in the Rocky Mountain area, mine was completely dead on arrival. (his review went up later in the day the same day that I ordered mine) Apparently D-link has absolutely zero quality control or product testing. I'm not sure how this happens in this day and age, but clearly there is a bad run of this item that has made its way to Amazon at this time. I await my replacement unit with a great deal of apprehension. July 20 update.
Summary: The first one I received would not power up at all. Amazon processed an advanced replacement, which was received quickly. Unfortunately, it had the same problem. I called D-Link Tech Support just in case I was doing something wrong, but they confirmed that it was apparently defective. Amazon refunded my money and issued a return shipping label. Terrible quality control and I don't think I will be using this product.
Summary: This NAS is a real money saver. Its cheap and is the right purchase for the Average Joe including me. The reason I'm giving a bad review on this product is because of the worst customer support. They reply to you a week after you send an email, then a week (or two) to reply after your initial reply to them. Again, this item is good but just remember that it has one of the crappiest Tech-Support ever.
Serious Firmware Flaw (Data Corrupt) & Horrible Tech Support
6 April 2012
Summary: Bottom line: D-Link tech support is beyond horrible - it took them ONE MONTH to respond to a support request, and it was a total non-response - basically, they told me that I shouldn't be using this product as a Network Storage Device, that it was designed more for [sic]"Backup's". So, they did not even address the fact that it corrupts data! Yes, you heard me correctly - it is not able to save data/files accurately!!!
