Lost all data, the one thing is should not do.

MultiPak, CNET
3 February 2013
  • Summary: Disk is fine. Partitions exist, but cannot read in XP. Be warned Keep simple stupid or your stuffed (I did, used Standard not raid).
  • Pros: Looks nice, style
  • Cons: Content, Utter rubbish, wasted a huge amount of time on this, might as well manually back-up. Lost all data, the one thing it should not do it did.

Your time is valuable. Don't waste it on this one.

citris1, CNET
18 November 2012
  • Summary: I wish that I had spend a bit more money and gotten something easier to configure rather then wasting hours with this.
  • Pros: This device showed up on the network immediately.
  • Cons: But configuration has been a nightmare. Just can't get it to limit permissions.

Lost all documents after 2 weeks - Worst tech support!!

sunsassyca, CNET
21 June 2012
  • Pros: Worked fine for a week... that is it!
  • Cons: Would empty folders randomly. Would have to reboot. The next day, DNS would not recognize the hard drives and I could not retrieve the documents. Everything was lost!, Tech support blamed it on wires and the power and said it couldn't be the machine!

Its okay, not for first time NAS users

Thomas Rhys Mainwaring, Amazon
6 April 2014
  • Summary: It is a very nice looking Nas and operates silently sometimes I even forget I have it. I can say it is an awful pain to set up and dont even bother with ftp as its a farce to get working. Dlink provides a free ddns account with every product so use that to access your files from outside the office/house. Use it with a powerline adapter and a tp link unmanaged netowrk switch and I've had no problems with it.

Excellent!

Ascension Systems, Amazon
3 April 2014
  • Summary: Excellent product, prompt shipping (next day), couldn't be happier. Using 2, 3TB WD Red NAS drives in Raid 1 and I'm super happy with the performance. Averaging 25 or more MBPS copying large backup directories.

It wouldn't work!

Baz, Amazon
11 February 2014
  • Summary: I couldn't get this to work. I don't say there was anything wrong with it, it was the software wasn't up to the job. The third party backup software didn't work either. I returned the item and Amazon refunded my money. Many thanks, Amazon. I then purchased a Synology DS214se, plugged it in and away it went.

Average

Mr. James Holloway, Amazon
2 February 2014
  • Summary: I give this an average rating. The build quality is average and so is the interface. Qnap NAS drives are way better and much more user friendly to use.

Grim Setup

M. G. Chisholm "chiefengineer3", Amazon
11 December 2013
  • Summary: The blurb suggests that this is an easy to setup NAS drive which you will have up and running in minutes. Nothing further from the truth. The reality is that you need to be seriously up to speed with networking and IT to come even close. The manual is 133 pages long - and you have to read all of it. There is no simple plug and play options here. You need to know every acronym invented and have available a lot of information regarding your network, email and provider.
