Summary: The ease of setup, the price, and the 8tb of storage make this a no-brainer.
Pros: 8tb of storage Very reasonable price Quick setup - Only took 10 minutes to install on the rack - I've read a lot of reviews here and elsewhere saying that it was very difficult to interface with active directory. This is not true. I was able to interface immediately. And I do not consider myself ...
Cons: I haven't noticed anything yet. Setting up directories and permissions based on Active Directory has been a breeze.
Pros: This is the second Buffalo TeraStation I have owned. I configured in RAID10 and it has never once had a problem. I have a second Buffalo two drive that backs up this one. I have never had to deal with Buffalo customer service so I can't comment on that. I would recommend this product. Also, I was...
Summary: I purchased this unit to take the load off my $40,000 Equallogic while I did some BIOS updates. It performed without fail. Performance was not as good as the Equallogic, but the Buffalo has 1/4 of the drives and 1/20th of the price, so that wasn't unexpected.
Pros: It runs linux and has a ton of features for home and office Writes are happening at around 27MB/s, reads are over 50MB/s. Comes with 10 licenses for backup software, not many other NAS boxes give you this option.
Cons: Documentation is not the greatest; but if you have some understanding of linux, then you can understand what is running in the background.
Summary: This is the first time I've ever taken the time to write a review, but I'm here to buy yet another one of these units, and I felt compelled to respond to a couple of the negative reviews here. First off, this is the Terastation III, not the Pro as referenced in another review.
Pros: Great system easy to setup and love the web interface. I was astounded with the quality of the physical product and found that the configuration was quite simple! I will certainly buy another one when needed!
