Summary: Been using NAS's from Buffalo for over 10 years. I've probably bought about 10 of various units from Buffalo Tech for myself and others that I help with IT stuff. Never had the trouble some folks describe. Had two drives go bad in two units after running for a few years.
Summary: I have spent a lot of time fighting with this thing. For the price I would have been ahead in time and money had I purchased a new server and configured it. Connecting to Active Directory should not require jumping through this many hoops.
Summary: The ease of setup, the price, and the 8tb of storage make this a no-brainer.
Pros: 8tb of storage Very reasonable price Quick setup - Only took 10 minutes to install on the rack - I've read a lot of reviews here and elsewhere saying that it was very difficult to interface with active directory. This is not true. I was able to interface immediately. And I do not consider myself ...
Cons: I haven't noticed anything yet. Setting up directories and permissions based on Active Directory has been a breeze.
Summary: Yesterday was the second crash I had with this unit. The E04 error is bad but the E06 error for Lost Boot image is even worse. Many gigs have been lost. What's even worse, the USB ports on the back that you can use to hook an external hard drive to use a format that isn’t readable by Windows.
Pros: This is the second Buffalo TeraStation I have owned. I configured in RAID10 and it has never once had a problem. I have a second Buffalo two drive that backs up this one. I have never had to deal with Buffalo customer service so I can't comment on that. I would recommend this product. Also, I was...
Summary: We own a couple Buffalo rackmount Terastations. We primarily use these for storing documents and data. We have them setup to mirror each other. We have not had any problems with them thus far and one of them we have owned one of them for a couple of years now.
Summary: Seems to work good but we had to waste 3 weeks of having server promlems to get 1 that worked. We got 1 and installed it. It took us about a week before we realized it wasn't working properly. So we ordered another one so we could stay running when we sent it back.
