Too many glitches and constant problems.

  • Summary: I bought two of these units, one to serve files and one to be a backup. They were working ok (not great) with only occasional glitches. Then they came out with new firmware and both units are basically unusable now. They constantly crash, won't complete a backup, and one won't transfer large files at all because they hang up about half way through. I've gone round and round with Buffalo tech support, both on the phone and via email.

Huge storage is all you get

  • Summary: Although this is a nice unit and has gobs of storage, I can't get over the fact that it won't synch with iTunes anymore and it won't let me access it over the web.

Never again a Bffalo product

  • Summary: I bought a LS410 3To from Buffalo. A couple of months after I had bought it, it went into emergency mode. It was impossible to recharge the firmware. I contacted Buffalo customer service but they would nerver respond. So I went to their forums and followed the advice and reformated the drive. Now Buffalo CS tells me that the NAS is a brick and they will not do anything to help me. It is a sh...y product and their customer service is even worse.

  • Excerpt: So I give this product 5 * but this is based on a very short ownership. I have an old LinkStation which is 7 years old and works just fine and so I don't anticipate a problem going forward. The product was easy to get going but I struggled to "see" it on all my laptops, mix of Win 7, XP, 8.1, so I called the help line and within two mins was talking to a patient and knowledgeable support person, Laura. Ten minutes and all was functioning. A great experience.

  • Summary: The unit came sealed and brand new, It worked just fine for two or three days. After that, the started to disconnect from the network plus the torrent client stop working. It always said ithere was an update to do, so I did, and it bricked. Couldn't find any assitance from Bufallo, nor any tutorial on the entire web how to fix it... A completely waste of my money. As I bought from abroad, I couldn't returned it either. Just waste my money, time and data there.

Great drive! Avoid the apps.

  • Summary: I returned the WD MyCloud and got this. I really like it. Unlike the my cloud, it is very reliable. It's been online 100% of the time. There have been two instances in the past two months were I was not able to acces it from outside my private network (the biggest feature we all use and want a nas for). I thought it was the drive at first. Nope. It was my my public IP changed. Logged into the drive from private network, reset via UI, and was back online.

HDD NOT rated for continuous use...expect < 1year life!

  • Summary: Installed in my LS410 NAS was a Seagate Barracuda HDD. After less than one year of use it died. I looked online and discovered that the Barracuda is not recommended for continuous use...which begs the question: "Why is this even IN a NAS?

  • Summary: Several problems with this product: 1. If you computer connect to router through wifi, prepare long waiting time for file transfers. 2. This unit froze itself from time to time. Can't be shut down by the power switch on the back of the switch. I have to physically disconnect the power cord and reboot the device for it to work again. 3. It keep showing me error message on backup jobs. Called tech support several times. The problem is still there.... 4.

Don't buy for backing up your network.

  • Summary: Hi all. Here's my story and here's why you should not buy a Linkstation if you intend to use it to backup a network. I use a Linkstation Pro to backup the pcs on our home network. A hard drive recently crashed on my PC. After installing a new hard drive, loading windows, etc., I went to restore my PC's data off of my linkstation. I could not get any of the data to "import" to Novastor, the backup software that Buffalo sells with the Linkstation.
