Avoid it

Fabian, Amazon

  • Summary: Several problems with this product: 1. If you computer connect to router through wifi, prepare long waiting time for file transfers. 2. This unit froze itself from time to time. Can't be shut down by the power switch on the back of the switch. I have to physically disconnect the power cord and reboot the device for it to work again. 3. It keep showing me error message on backup jobs. Called tech support several times. The problem is still there.... 4.

Caveat Emptor

Amazon
  • Summary: Either it is me or the drive. This is the third unit in less than 2 years. The earlier model was the LS-X3.0TL which failed with 7 months of usage and 90 plus % of data gone. The replacement unit LS-410D0301 (LS-X discontinued here) lasted 10 months. Another tedious hours of replaced data ALL gone. Requested to replace with the LS-420D series to use raid instead of losing 3TB worth of data again, which they claimed uses better grade hard disc drives.

Don't buy for backing up your network.

Kevin carson, Amazon
27 October 2014
  • Summary: Hi all. Here's my story and here's why you should not buy a Linkstation if you intend to use it to backup a network. I use a Linkstation Pro to backup the pcs on our home network. A hard drive recently crashed on my PC. After installing a new hard drive, loading windows, etc., I went to restore my PC's data off of my linkstation. I could not get any of the data to "import" to Novastor, the backup software that Buffalo sells with the Linkstation.

Work as avertised

Michael DiGangi, Amazon

  • Summary: This is my second Buffalo drive purchase. It installs easily and Buffalo has a great tech support team if needed. What I did not like is how it was shipped from Amazon. Being a somewhat fragile device, it was delivered in a box bigger than the item with no packing material preventing the drive from being jostled around during shipping. When the shipping box was opened the corner of the drive box had been damaged and I was concerned whether the drive was damaged.

A product has many bugs and Buffalo support almost doesn't exist

Evgeny Rudminsky, Amazon
26 May 2014
  • Summary: I bought this unit because for last 3 years I had good experience with Buffalo products. I have also LS-CHL link station and was happy with it and decided to buy new one LS410 with 3TB storage. One of my main concerns was to use built-in bittorent client download. I got my unit and started download torrents and found out that after couple of minutes download speed came to 4.5MB and dialog was popped up "Connectivity problem - unable to communicate with your bittorrent...
