Summary: The good: I have not needed to restore on this drive, but on my old Buffalo RAID NAS I replaced two drives before it finally died and the RAID restore was seamless – I assume this one will also work in a similar manner. This unit can also take high capacity (> 2TB) USB attached hard drives as well (the old one could not) however that is not so straight-forward – you have to boot LINUX to format the drive. These are also among the lowest priced units for what you get.
Summary: This was a good piece of storage. It is much slower than I thought. If running wirelessly on a "G" network I only get about 2MB/sec throughput so it is very slow. My only wish is that it was faster but this might be more of a network issue than a storage issue.
Summary: I'm a little disappointed to see that my 6TB Quad came with 5400 rpm drives. They are also the HD154UI/JP1 versions which are slower than the HD154UI F2EG Desktop class versions. The LinkStation Quad reviews that I have read were based on 7200 rpm drives.
