Summary: This is a great value! We purchased the LinkStation to relieve the stress on our overly taxed network and use it for photo storage. It was a quick and simple setup to install on our server resulting in extra storage on our regular network.
Summary: All my movies, songs, pictures are stored here, all in one place. It connects to my router, Yamaha receiver, WD box, Ipad. I can watch different movies simultaneously. One movie on the Ipad, another on my TV via the WD box, another movie on my laptop. Simultaneously. Good stuff.
Summary: Considering the concept of NAS, theses devices should be designed to last as a server. Must recognize that I enjoyed this toy, specialy accesing my files from the internet through the FTP server, but reliabitliy should be a must. Bougth in october 2012, "red light of death", as another reviewer posted, in march 2014, means 18 months lifespan: disapointing. DO NOT TRUST YOUR FILES TO THIS DEVICE ONLY, if you already have one. If you don't, save your bucks.
Summary: The hard drive in my original LinkStation was starting to give bad sector errors. It's been running 24x7 for years, and was a refurbished unit when I purchased it. This Pro model is much faster, and the firmware has seen some much needed upgrades. The only negative is this is a single drive, not a RAID. Be sure you have a second, preferably offsite, copy of your data. All hard drives will fail in time.
Terrible product, I have had two fail lost everything
DJANLEL "DJANLEL", Amazon
5 November 2013
Summary: These drives have a very high rate of failure. I had one that died, then got another through the warranty only to have it fail. The company is hard to deal with and makes it difficult to return defective drives, plus they charge huge shipping and handling rates. Spend a little more up from for a better drive or spend triple later on data recovery. The choice is yours.
BUFFALO LinkStation Pro 2 TB High Performance Network Attached Storage (NAS) - LS-V2.0TL
L Tegen, Amazon
30 October 2013
Summary: This was the first and last Buffalo NAS I will purchase. This was purchased for use with a high school Multimedia class. It was installed by a district network person and kept in a locked cage with the switches, a battery backup, and multiple fans. It died suddenly after 17 months. The errors were "E16 The hard disk is not connected or is malfunctioning. Contact Buffalo tech support for assistance." and "E17 Internal controller error.
Summary: I am very happy with the LS-V2.0L. It is very fast, quiet and so far has been reliable. But, do not use the included Novabackup that is included. It is very buggy and will hijack your search engine and homepage and mess up your system so bad that the only way I could recover my system was through a system restore. If you stay away from this lousy software you will be happy with the drive.
Summary: I use this daily connected to my network. I gave up on the cloud service's limitation and on-going expense. In my many years of using a PC, I have never had a backup to save me. It may all be in the software. However without good trustworthy piece of hardware, you will still be sunk. After review several options in my budget, I found that this product had the best reputation and 'bang for the buck'. It has great features and cost, and easy to set up and use.
