Summary: I have had this Linkstation, which I only use for streaming music through my SONOS system, for just over a year. It was easy to set up and worked well until last week, when the red lights came on and it started sending error messages about bad sectors on the hard drive. I tried updating the firmware but the errors continued, so it will now be retired. Buffalo tech support was helpful, but the device is out of warranty.
Good product for Basic NAS but very short life (HDD dead after a year or so)

Summary: Great NAS for basic functions to have network drives. After more than a year of purchase I started getting errors via e-mail from their monitoring system that the hard drive is damaged. Thankfully I had an external backup and I moved to a better NAS Solution but is very depressing to see that the life spam of the product is so bad. I liked this NAS but their poor durability for a NAS that needs to be on 24x7x365 is a deal breaker for me.
I'm very disappointed and will not by from Buffalo again

Summary: My drive failed shortly after the 1 year warranty expired. It just flashes it's status light red and won't mount with any kind of disk utility. I'm very disappointed and will not by from Buffalo again.
Summary: Bought this external storage iin July 13'. It's been making funny sounds (like it's dead) and I can't get it to connect for 2 months now. So basically this drive which I hardly ever used lasted just long enough to not be covered under the warranty. I'd save my money and buy a better quality product if I had to do it again.
Novastor's solution is for me to go down to best buy tonight

Summary: Hi all. Here's my story and here's why you should not buy a Linkstation if you intend to use it to backup a network. I use a Linkstation Pro to backup the pcs on our home network. A hard drive recently crashed on my PC. After installing a new hard drive, loading windows, etc., I went to restore my PC's data off of my linkstation. I could not get any of the data to "import" to Novastor, the backup software that Buffalo sells with the Linkstation.
Summary: I bought this NAS Janualry of 2013 and it broke less than 18months with dreaded blinking red 7 times. All my data is not accessible and Buffalo tech support was helpless. They just suggested that i go to data retrieval service. Overall very bad product. Do not BUY!!
Summary: I've had this product just less than a year and it already broke. It seems to been a problem with the firmware on the device because it would freeze up and wouldn't let me connect to it. All my files were still there (the hard drive was fine) but I just couldn't access them. It doesn't help that it uses SGI XFS file system (which you can only access from a Linux OS).
Summary: Here's my review on this 3 TB single hard drive, BUFFALO LINKSTATION Pro 3TB NAS - LS—V3.0TL Network Storage Server for our network. This one has a much faster 1.6 GHz processor instead of one will only 500 MHz. One feature I would really appreciate is that it has a built-in print server and user serviceable cooling fan. The fan itself is a three wire with tachometer, 40 mm x 40 mm x 10 mm in dimension.
Summary: Disk error after 1.5 years which make it totally useless. I have to pay extra money to get data out. 05/17/2014 update: trying to format under Debug mode, still get error message: format failed, aborting update. All in all, after 1.5 years, this NAS totally becomes a junk now.

Summary: I set up this drive with the intention of using it for my photo archives as well as a local network backup of my laptops. The idea of media streaming was also appealing. I set it up on my network without too much difficulty, put the clients on the PCs, etc. It hummed along with very light use for a year or so. Then, it began making a weird noise. I shut it down, and, when I restarted it, I got the "7 red flashes of death" indicating hard drive failure.
