Set it and forget it
16 December 2009
Summary: Basic install. Attach to your network and that's it. Install the the backup software that comes with it or use your own. The Memeo software is a bit dated. I recommend downloading a newer version. You do need to pay for it though. Memeo is very eay to set up and backs up live as you make changes.
Summary: Great product! Setup for shared folders/drives and web interface easy. Unit runs quietly. Transfer speed is fine - a little slow if accessing via web interface outside network however speed via web interface within network is good.
Summary: This unit is not quite plug and play out of the box, there is some configuration required before you can actually use it. You need to connect to it via LAN, the easiest way is to use the LinkNavigator software included to find it for you.
Summary: I bought this as a back-up solution to a couple of computers I have at home. It was really easy to configure, setup went smoothly and quickly, and the Raid setup was fairly intuitive. I set mine up as a 1 TB mirror.
Summary: The drive works as advertised. I set it up in the Raid 1 configuration as this feature was the main reason I purchased this drive. However, the install instructions do not direct you to set it up this way and defaults to Raid 0.
Summary: This is a truly amazing product! 2 terabytes of storage in a mirrored disk array with wireless and web access for just over $300. What a wonderful world we live in. Like others, I opened it up, read the instructions, set it up and ran it.
Summary: I bought this after my usual long period of research. The LinkStation Pro is at the right price point for extending my disk space at home. I would recommend it for a small group at work, too, although it wouldn't handle a large company's needs. Setup was exceptionally easy.
