Summary: This drive is running connected to a Cisco 3750 switch (24 ports of 10/100/1000) and it is a business grade layer 3 switch. (It routes and switches packets). The ports are 802.3z compliant, which is the IEEE standard for 1000Tx copper gig. My drive is connected to a GigE port via a 3ft cat 6+ cable. It performs exceptionally well, and I have the drive broken in to several partitions in Raid 1 mode since my wife and two sons have laptops.
Summary: EDIT 9/20/2011: After three years my LinkStation is still whirring away like it did the day I bought it. Still works perfectly with no problems. EDIT 1/29/2009: This thing just totally saved my data. My PC crashed over the weekend and wouldn't boot up even after I ran the Windows XP installer in Repair Mode. It just kept rebooting over and over.
Summary: This has worked out perfectly for me - I had a USB drive attached to my D-Link router but the software was terrible - or maybe the firmware that was supposed to support the attached devices - in any case it was too unreliable to use for backup. This has proven to resolve all my issues - I was able to remove the drive from my USB enclosure to install as a second drive in this unit and then I set it up as a raid array and in no time I was on my way to backing up safely,...
Summary: Bought this to replace an aging and underpowered Buffalo Cloudstor so I kind of knew what I was getting into. If you don't rate yourself at leat 8.5/10 on a geek scale, I would not recommend it; otherwise go ahead, take it on as a project. I purchased the diskless enclosure and added a couple of 2TB Seagate green drives; a good choice, I think. Right away, DOA out of the box and got a message to call Tech Support for help with a firmware upgrade.
Summary: I use three of these devices, each configured to RAID 1, giving a terrabyte of mirrored storage. They form an image library and PC backup cluster. My only complaint is that the user interface for management is not that great. It is web based and very very sluggish. However, once you have them set up, you don't need to use it again ... Solid product and has the ability to replace a drive should either drive fail.
Summary: I have two computers on my primary network and wanted an inexpensive yet reliable NAS to do a backup image for both machines, and regular document backups. There are many options in the way of a NAS. This one fit the bill for my particular purpose. The NovaBackup software that came with it is fairly intuitive and feature rich.

Summary: Overall, a very good product and comes with a nice online interface for remote access. I did have some trouble removing the front faceplate to install the hard drives as the instructions are not very clear.
Summary: I bought this based on a recommendation. and although for me it was a little difficult to get setup I am over pleased with the product and it works well for what I use it for. takes a while to setup to RAID 1 but I understand that it typical. the first time I called their support I felt like I was bothering them.
