Summary: Tested The raid 5 array is ext4 and easily recognized in a good raid cage enclosure with Window with Diskinternals Linux Reader or a good bootable Linux utility distro.
Pros: Purchase an open box item 8 months ago. This is as good as my Synology with equal hardware specs. Both have upgraded memory. Asustor and Qnap have better and more apps. AS-604T has great features. I do not know about VM use but transfer rate near saturation on gigabit nic interface. Price is right
Summary: Have it running for about 2 weeks now without any problems. Basic setup was simple enough. As for the more advanced settings, like your own cloud server, it's not that simple if you have no clue about networking.
Summary: Works really well, easy setup, does exactly what was advertised. as allot of features, will satisfy the beginners as well the advance users. working under windows with inter-relation with other computers just marvelous!!!
Excerpt: using for a NAS and a Plex server. works great for streaming to my Roku boxes around the house. hooked it up with 4 discs and it went right into raid 5 automatically. tons of features, lot i haven't used yet. FTP server accepts the downloads from my IP cameras.

Summary: The NAS performs admirably and one of the lowest priced small business/home servers in its class. GUI is ADM navigates well and it feature enriched with several key maintenance options such as an automated Disk Doctor a bad sector scanning utility. This unit lacks in apps allowing for UPNP the current NAS package for the Asustor does not include "bubblesoft UPNP" Currently only one App exists "Plex" quite a shame for a media server.
Summary: Last year was marketed at price far below Synology unit with same specs and performance. Has become popular and prices have risen to comparable to Synology!!
Pros: his NAS is equivilent to 412+ Synology in almost every respect, quality, performance, disk management system. I favor it above my 412+ since has many more quality apps available and web interface and app seem faster and perform better on Asustor. Asustor 604T with 2 Seagate ST3000VN000 (3TB) in raid 1
Cons: Auto initialized without options unless you download Asustor control panel app and initialize array from control panel.
Summary: Any NAS beyond the $500 to $600 price is not a bargain when you can build a much better mini server for around $900. I have one debian based NAS server I5 quad core dual NIC ports built for around $700, not counting hard drives.
Pros: Very competitive system with Synology 412+ and Qnap TS469L Performance is very close to these other NAS units that have similar hardware specs. Just acquired open box unit. Synology does not have as many apps as Asustor and Qnap. Both Asustor and Qnap QTS 4/4.1 wide selection of add on apps
Cons: Sometimes apps with both Qnap and Asustor don't install correctly and need tweaking. Linux operating system is accessible for linux geeks with a little effort
