Excerpt: I use this to backup six PCs of assorted flavors (Windows + Linux). With the PCs all running Gig Ethernet the backups are extremely fast. I have yet to figure out all the features and settings, but a basic backup is so easy to run. I bit the bullet and got all the bays filled with 4T drives. I now have space to burn and more importantly, I actually run backups automatically and regularly.
Excerpt: Id give it 5 stars but I havet had it long and I have nothing to comapare it to. With that being said this NAS has done everything ive wanted. Im only using 2 bays right now and I filled them with 2-2tb WD Red's. Plex has fuctioned well so all in all its been a great product so far.
Summary: Having bought this at a good discount, this NAS delivers. I chose this over the 3 series which has a newer Atom processor with hardware transcoding built in. The only problem is that it doesn't work with Plex so essentially the hardware part is useless. The D2700 processor in this one also has hardware GPU that can do transcoding but Intel doesn't have Linux drivers for it.
Summary: I've always loved ASUS products and drooled over the specs of this unit but its hard to take advantage of the hardware when the software is so buggy. My main grips are around the downloading client in particular. On their website the graphics show it being able to handle magnet links and RSS feeds but I have not found a single way to get magnetlinks to work and for RSS feeds, it will let you view the feed and manually click on entries but automatic download of items on...
Summary: Although this NAS can be seen on the expensive side and is not as well known as Qnap and Synology it will soon be. This is my 3rd purchase of an Asustor NAS, I now have 2 AS-604t'S mirroring each other, and single AS-602t, the 602 runs as a media server, the PLEX app runs very well. I installed the second 604 and ran a backup from the other 604, I was amazed at how fast it was, previous to this running backups from a Qnap TS420 now seem extremely slow, although the Qnap...
Summary: Asustor a réussie à rallier l'utile au divertissement.
