Summary: When testing networking gear we use typically use our DGL-4500 Router with Gigabit Ethernet plugged into a machine that has a very high-performing network card. We often see iPerf speeds greater that 940Mbps (94% of rated Gigabit speeds) on this setup and when testing wireless networking gear, the wired component doesn't really factor into the equation. This time around we tested three different ranges when plugged into my Thinkpad T61.
Pros: Very small adapter, Works under Windows 2000 and newer, WPS support built in, Great performance at close range, Available for as little as $20 online
Cons: Performance degrades rather quickly when the range is increased, Only 150Mbps TX speed
