Summary: I purchased these to use on my residential network, to feed video from an IP security camera to a NAS. I wanted to use a hardwired connection directly into an Ethernet switch, rather than adding the traffic to my wifi network, where it would be competing with other wireless devices in the residence. I'm in an apartment, approximately 1100 sq ft, with a single breaker box in a central room.
Not a good idea if you already have reasonably good wireless
6 September 2014
Summary: If you already have reasonably good wireless coverage, don't get these adapters. Unless they are close together on the same circuit, transfer rates will not be much if any better than most wireless signal transfer rates. And if they are close enough and on the same circuit, you could probably just run an Ethernet cable.
Summary: Small little unit that for the most part gets the job done. My wiring is 25-30 years old, and it seems to struggle to maintain a green status. I commonly see them in yellow, sometimes going into red. When its been in red, it has had trouble streaming multimedia files from my storage to my HTPC fast enough. Data is still getting through at a consistent rate, but the rate at which it's transmitting has been too slow to keep up to the play rate.
Pros: Fairly small profile, reliable connectivity
Cons: No passthrough eletrical plug, no power over ethernet, sometimes not enough bandwidth
Do not use if you have x10 home automation or CFL bulbs nearby.

Summary: I'm sorry to say I couldn't give this a good test because it interferes with my x10 home automation and vice versa. I think the reason many have had problems with the units disconnecting is they may have other devices that are sending garbage over the power line, like CFL bulbs. They don't play well together.
Summary: My experience may not be normal. I went through a lot with these things and am left less than satisfied. First off, the only benefit these can have is on your internal network. They will max out your connection to the internet, when they work, but you can do that with lower capacity adapters. My situation was this: I wanted to use the 4 other Netgear power adapters I had bought over the last 6 months with the Nano500.
Summary: I have the previous version of this item that is rated at 200 mbps. It works just as well and I don't constantly loose my internet connection. With this new one I loose the connection for a few seconds on a regular basis. I cannot tell that the item connects any faster than the old 200 mbps version. I would not purchase this item if you already have the older one if you are expecting faster connection speeds or a more stable connection.
Summary: Voici de très bonnes prises CPL.
