Unreliable - Constantly drops connection

AWS User, Amazon
4 November 2012
  • Summary: This powerline adapter does not work properly. The adapter frequently disconnects and breaks all network connections. I bought 2 sets of these adapters to use with desktop computers and media players. All the devices I've tried to connect experience frequent disconnects.

Run the cable.

Matt Velure, Amazon
13 July 2012
  • Summary: I bought these trying to avoid crawling under my house to run ethernet cable. Waste of time and energy - they just don't work.

The device systematically corrupts data and NetGear shows no interest in investigating.

Nick P., Amazon
13 July 2012
  • Summary: Although this device seemed to be working correctly, a concerted effort to track down the source of data corruption eventually showed that these Netgear devices were in fact systematically injecting data corruption in the transfer of images generated from a CCD camera.

I should know better than to buy Netgear by now

Robert Lippmann, Amazon
13 July 2012
  • Summary: Pros: Easy installation and setup Cons: Drops connection Just got this today. Set it up, seemed to run well. Did a 200MB download, and it choked about 85-100MB in giving me no connection. Since this is noted behavior in the Netgear forums, I'm guessing it's a general problem.

Sad

Deliverance, Amazon
13 July 2012
  • Summary: I had high hopes for this product. I wanted to stop using a wireless connection to a device on my TV. This product simply didn't work and after troubleshooting the problem with Netgear support they advised me to return the adapters.

inconsistent performance

Terry E. Mitchell, Amazon
13 July 2012
  • Summary: Set up and worked fine for a day or two. Afterwards, we could not keep the connection. Would reset and still no better. Dropped this product and used "extended" wireless routers to extend the network.

Did not work for me

ETcallHome, Amazon
13 July 2012
  • Summary: I bought the Netgear XAVB5101 to try out at my house, which was built in 2003. These are small units that don't take up the entire outlet, that is a positive. Started out with 1 unit down stair, the other 1 up stair. Did not linked up.

totally unreliable

KCT, Amazon
13 July 2012
  • Summary: I wish I'd stuck with my ancient homeplugs which were slow but reliable. These ones are certainly a lot faster - 17.8mbps from 30mbps broadband but they regularly drop the network/internet. When they are working they are good but after a month of constant drop out they are going to the dustbin.

Looses connection all the time. Drives me nuts

MarkM, Amazon
23 April 2012
  • Summary: Got these a few weeks ago. At first it seemed to work great, but I've recently had nothing but problems with them. The box itself will continuously reset (all lights go blank and come back on in a loop)I've tried every outlet in the room im in. Nothing else is plugged into either outlet.
