Lenovo didn't waste any time launching its own netbook when ASUS, HP , and Acer first introduced theirs. That first version of the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 possessed many desirable netbook traits, including an ExpressCard slot and a 10-inch widescreen, that kept the other three from running away with this category. But that was six months ago. Since then, netbooks have been evolving at a furious pace, with manufacturers improving aesthetics, slashing prices, and bridging the... Read more

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is a great netbook, there’s no doubt. But is it the best? Is it worth your money and time? Read more

Does the lower price and larger battery option make the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 a great deal despite the newer netbooks on the market? Yes and no. Read more

I don’t mind admitting I am a dinosaur when it comes to tech - I still use a camera that shoots real film and I really have a soft spot for tape-recorders that record on magnetic tape. That said, my job as a travel journalist is always evolving. I write on the move, now, researching stories as I go and - hopefully - sending photos at the same time. Slimming down the size and weight of the gear I have to carry has long been a quest of Homeric proportions which makes me... Read more

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1208U Netbook 5 I ordered the white s10 on Lenovo website when they had 15% off in August 08. But only white, black and red were available. Waited long time (about 1 month) to receive this one. It was light, small but big enough screen for web surfing and other light task windows programs. The battery life lasts about 3 hours with the "super power save" mode that come with the S10 and it is only 3 cell battery. They could have used 6 cell battery for... Read more

This netbook is the best! I first tried an MSI U100 but could not get support from Taiwan. Then a Dell Mini 10, but when the netbook arrived the HD was already making a noise. The Lenovo S10 was my last try and it was the charm! Even though other Lenovo S10 owners complain about a "loud fan noise" or "ongoing fan", mine does not exhibit those symptoms. I understand an updated bios is soon to be published to correct the fan problem. Perhaps the best feature for me is the... Read more

I've been in dire need of a small mobile pc that I could easily take to class, but I also don't have a lot of play money so I needed something cheap. I really didn't want one of those mediocre $500-800 entry level laptops. They're generally flimsy and poorly built. A netbook seemed like the perfect solution. When I heard Lenovo was making one I decided to check it out. (I've been a fan of IBM/Lenovo thinkpads since I got my Thinkpad 365 ~12 years ago) I was also... Read more
