Lenovo S10 — The Best Netbook We've Seen All Year Never one to let a trend pass it by - even a year or so after it's hit prime time - Lenovo is finally getting into the low-cost netbook game with the IdeaPad S10. And again Lenovo proves that by sitting back and learning from the mistakes of others it can put together a solid, classic product that ranks among the best in its class. There are no huge surprises to be found in the IdeaPad S10, but the machine impresses at... Read more

For the most part, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is your standard netbook. It’s small, lightweight, and sturdy and runs on Intel’s Atom platform. We like that our review unit shipped with a 160GB 5,400rpm hard drive—as opposed to the small budget SSDs found in some netbooks. We also like the S10’s sturdy hinge, bright matte screen, and decent-size keyboard. It’s not the roomiest keyboard we’ve ever seen on a netbook; it’s bigger than the Asus Eee 901’s cramped... Seeing that a majority of netbooks are based on the Intel Atom N270 CPU, GMA950 graphics, and Windows XP Home as the operating system (the s10 being no exception), you have to look at what other features it brings to the table. Besides the eye-pleasing and MacBook-like design, the base model of Lenovo's S10 is actually not that well equipped compared to similar netbooks. It has an 80GB hard drive and only 512MB of RAM, although most buyers will probably throw in an extra... Read more

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is a great netbook, there’s no doubt. But is it the best? Is it worth your money and time? It’s a budget netbook, so netbooks with better features are out there. However, it isn’t boring; Lenovo realized an ExpressCard is a great idea, and included Bluetooth, as every netbook maker should (but not all do, curiously). Considering Lenovo’s new updates, the S10 may be turning into a luxury netbook with a competitive cost – something we... Read more

The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 is Lenovo's first foray into the netbook space and unfortunately it does not perform as well as some of the other similarly priced competitors. The 85% of full size keyboard is too small for a 10'' netbook where most competitors have been able to fit 92% on 10'' netbooks released months earlier. This netbook also suffers from running too warm (which again is surprising considering Lenovo is not known for warm running netbooks). Other than these... Read more

I use the product for basic functions (word processing, internet browsing, and music.) For these purposes, the ideapad is perfect. The battery life could be longer (around 3 hours), but the spacious keyboard and loud speakers make this netbook ideal for basic users. Read more

I love this little netbook for its portability. It has the power to run most daily tasks but chokes on streaming video. The 3-cell battery is a bummer and last for about 2 hours. The one thing I can't stand about this machine is the click the mouse buttons make. It is audible across the room. Also, the paint on the mouse button is already wearing off. Besides that I like this S10 and it is now my daily computer. Read more

I had an HP ZD8000 laptop that I suffered through for 3 Years. It was everything the Lenovo isn't. The HP was big, Heavy, noisy, hot to the touch, hard on the eyes, and unreliable. After the HP developed the "jailhouse bars" vertical lines on it's display and HP customer service blew it off, it was time to look for something better. Firstly NO HP PRODUCT, EVER. The Lenovo came the closest to what I wanted. The 10 inch display is more usable than the dim fuzzy 17 incher... Read more or see product
