Dell was actually quite slow in catching up with the netbook craze, and it took until late last year for the Irish manufacturer to release this model. The Dell Mini 9 sums up everything you expect from an average netbook; it comes with the standard 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, Intel GMA950 graphics and a choice of a small solid state drive or more roomy hard drive. Moreover you get to choose from either Linux (Ubuntu) or Windows XP Home as the primary operating system.... Read more
The Dell Inspiron Mini 910 uses the usual netbook format with an 8.9 inch display and a resolution of 1024x600 pixels . The width of the screen under this format is sufficient, and it can serve well for the most common uses. A multitude of websites are still optimized for a screen width of 1024 pixels. The screen height of a mere 600 pixels , however, is considerably more restrictive. It makes frequent scrolling necessary in nearly all situations, which is actually... Read more
The Dell Mini 9 is fun, but suffers from a few flaws that keep it firmly in an earlier generation of netbooks. It seeks a balance between the bare-bones style of the earliest netbooks and feature-packed modern netbooks like the Eee PC 1000HE . Unfortunately, this may just mean it’s too expensive for the true budget buyers and too weak for people who want a more luxurious PC companion. However, it will appeal to those of us with a taste for the in-between. If you need a... Read more

I bought this laptop to replace the company-issued one that I've used on personal excursions for a few years, since I'll soon be leaving my current employer. Portability and battery life were my primary concerns, followed immediately by price. I'm a programmer, but most of my work is done remotely by SSH, so power isn't a real concern. 90% of my intended use is a mix of ssh and firefox. Read more
Got this on a Dell sale for $199, $219 with tax & shipping. Getting it cheap meant keeping the default 512 MB RAM, 8 GB HDD, no bluetooth and Ubuntu Linux. I ordered bluetooth on my 2nd one. For $19 I bought an 8 GB flash Micro SD chip with adapter that fits into the card reader on the side, so now, in addition to the 8 GB system disk (just over 6 GB used with Ubuntu and OpenOffice loaded), I have another 8 GB of storage with no USB device sticking out the side (the... Before searching do a simple search on 'netbooks' and buy anything else. Over $600 for a 1Gb, Linux 9" netbook? My goodness, I can find the same specs for around $250. I guess fools with money will always find a way to flow their wad...I guess this would be one way. Read more
Overall, it is small and light, easy to use, and very well built and durable. Great for college/university students with tight budget that needs a basic and small piece of equipment to go online and do some of their research and work. Read more
Just bought one of these from PC World On Line for an incredible price of £149.99 including delivery. I was expecting something maybe a bit substandard but what I have is fantastic. The 9 inch screen is big enough even for those with not perfect 20 20 vision to read web pages. It's very lightweight at under 1 kg. Small minus point is that it gets very hot underneath when using it. I believe that the fan only kicks in at a certain temperature. The Netbook boots up... Read more
