It won't turn heads, but the Asus Eee 1000HE which we review, will get a day's work done on battery power alone. Read more
We don't see the need for current Eee PC owners to upgrade, but for consumers just now looking to buy a netbook, this is a great option. The near-full size keyboard is a boon for those who spend a large amount of time typing, and the amazing battery is beneficial to anyone who stays far, far away from AC outlets. Read more
Whoever is looking for an especially enduring netbook should definitely shortlist the Asus Eee PC 1000HE. Even if the design might not be everybody's taste: battery life and build quality can be very convincing. Moreover, the matt display with strong contrast has very good characteristics for indoors and only loses points through its too meager maximum brightness during outdoor usage. Read more
The Asus Eee PC 1000HE doesn't mess with success—it just tweaks it. This updated $399 netbook builds on the design of the popular Eee PC 1000H by improving the keyboard (goodbye, misplaced right-Shift key!) and offering enhanced battery life as well as a mild performance boost. Read more
What a difference a better keyboard makes. On paper the ASUS Eee PC 1000HE ($399) is nearly identical to its predecessor, the 1000H. It has the same attractive, high-gloss chassis, the same 10-inch, LED-backlit display, and the same 1GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive. However, the revamped keyboard, which finally puts the right Shift key where it belongs, makes a world of difference in terms of usability for touch typists. Read more

This is our new favourite netbook, thanks to its six hours of battery life and the latest version of Intel's Atom CPU, the N280. Nevertheless, at 1.45 kg, it's amongst the heaviest of the sub-notebook family. Read more
For now, as we said, the 1000HE's features add up to the nicest of the netbook lot. Indeed, we can come up with only a couple of complaints. One is that we like our netbooks under rather than over three pounds. Asus has acknowledged that by unveiling (though not yet shipping) a 10.1-inch model that packs the 3.2-pound 1000HE's specifications into a 2.4-pound, 1.0-inch-thin slimline dubbed the Eee PC 1008HA "Seashell." If you can overlook the same tired Intel chipset, the... Read more
i bought this computer in july 2009 because of its long battery life. the battery lasted a long time, but the speed of the computer didn't. after about a year of having it, it was VERY slow and it froze a lot. i took it to staples to have a free pc tuneup, and they ended up having to re-install windows xp. then, when they tried installing updates, it crapped out again. they finally got it working correctly after a week or 2. I purchased an Asus Eee PC 1000HE more than a month ago, and after 1 week or so I had to reinstall Windows, since it wasn't opening anymore, which cost me extra money, plus some other technical issues. I can't say I'm completly satisfied about it. Read more
I bought this for use on a trip I'll be going on soon. It works wonderful! I will say my desktop is an old Acer running Win98 though. The keyboard is big enough to accurately touch type and the keys fell just right. The touch pad takes a little getting used to, but after a while it seems second nature. I did get a wireless mouse to use with it on the desk however. As for the lack of an optical drive, I bought one for twelve dollars including shipping. Read more

I was originally looking for the Samsung NC10, however the extended battery life was not available at the time, so I ended up with this product (£300 from Comet). My previous laptop was an Advent Celeron M 1.73 Ghz 1gb ram running Vista, that machine was grindingly slow, & would only just run World of Warcraft (& had a battery life of 20 mins tops). Read more

The 10-inch Eee PC 1000HE features an improved keyboard and a new version of Intel’s Atom processor. This keyboard is the principal difference from its predecessor the 10-inch Asus Netbooks. The new flat-topped keys are widely spaced with an improved typing experience. Another prominent change is that the important keys, such as the right Shift key, have been repositioned to a more rational position than on the previous Eee PC keyboards. It also features a couple of quick-launch buttons above the keyboard cycle through power profiles, start Skype, and change the screen resolution. The 10.1-inch wide-screen displays a 1,024x600 native resolution, with a memory of 1GB, 667MHz DDR2 which makes most documents and Web pages readable though it may require some scrolling. This netbook comes with the latest version of Intel’s Atom CPU, specifically designed for low-power products such as Netbooks. According to Asus, this is the first netbook to feature Intel Atom N28 processor which runs slightly faster than the 1.6GHz N270 found in many other Netbooks, it also offers a longer battery life as compared to previous Asus Eee Pc netbooks and has a higher front-side bus speed. The Asus Eee netbook PC 1000HE includes the exclusive super hybrid engine to save power and deliver maximum performance and a brillant LED backlit LCD screen to save energy. It comes with a standard, one-year warranty on parts and labor, and it offers online Web-based help and a toll-free phone number, and includes easy-to-find driver downloads and a brief FAQ.
