Acer takes a jaunt down the Pine Trail, but doesn't really break new ground Read more

    • Well-crafted; decent performance; excellent battery life; roomy hard drive; inexpensive.
    • Still just an Atom-powered netbook; mushy keys; fingerprint magnet.

A cer laptops are known for offering value for money and awesome price-performance ratio, and the same trend is seen in their netbooks as well. The new Acer Timeline X series of laptops are fine examples . They’re powerful, affordable and portable. Then there’s the new eMachines em350 netbook, which offers very good value for money , and now, the new Acer Aspire One AO532h, which not only features Intel’s Pine Trail CPU, an N450, but now comes with built-in... While not a bad effort, the Acer Aspire One 532h-2Dr suffers for being very similar to its Packard Bell sibling and not offering enough incentive over cheaper, previous generation machines that are considerably cheaper. It won't let you down, but neither will it blow you away. Read more

Besides pros and cons above, I would say that the graphics are tolerable at best, I experienced problems watching HD video. Multi-tasking is OK as long as it's a simple triangle (MS Office, web, music player). Keyboard takes getting used to, but manageable. Does get hot, you might consider replacing the HDD with SSD one (will save the battery, too). What really is annoying is that the RAM is maxed at 1GB installed. Read more

My sister-in-law got this from a brick and mortar store against my advice. She tried to take it back but they said she needed to go through Acer, even though the problems are with hardware not working properly. I guess she's just stuck with this thing because no one will admit there's a problem with it and thinks we don't know how to turn on the WiFi. Oh how I wish she'd gotten the EEE PC from New Egg like I wanted her to. Read more

This netbook may be better with more ram, it came with 1GB. I figured I'd upgrade to 2GB but if I did I'd void the warranty. I've added ram to laptops before which required removing keyboard but this is much more detailed according to what I read onlint. There's only one slot also. 5 seconds after booting the heat starts, after 5 minutes it's hot enough to burn your lap and the screen dims. I may have gotten a Lemon. Read more
