See lessWhile the netbook has 802.11b/g WiFi, neither Bluetooth nor 3G wireless broadband are included. The former can be had by plugging in a USB dongle; Acer has mentioned an internal upgrade for the latter, but there's no hard news as of yet. It's 3G we're thinking of when we say we wish the Aspire One had an ExpressCard slot like Lenovo's forthcoming IdeaPad S10. Acer's software bundle is modest. Sixty-day trial versions of Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student and McAfee... Read more
While there’s no shortage of variety in the netbook market, one of the most commonly recommended – and certainly most commonly searched for here on SlashGear – is the Acer Aspire One. With a slick casing, brand name recognition and relatively large degree of flexibility in specifications, even with new rivals from Dell and others, Acer is holding its own. We’ve had the Aspire One in for the past fortnight to put it through its paces; check out the full... Read more
The Acer Aspire One is the best buy among netbooks at the moment. It's got good performance, solid build quality and good looks. The features for the price beat ASUS, Dell and HP. At $349, portable computing just got more affordable. And for those who aren't budget-constrained, the Acer is one cool ultraportable that's perfect for vacations, the living room sofa or anyplace else you want to use a small, light computer. The screen is sharp and bright, there are plenty of... Read more
With the approach of mid August so approaches the Back To School Season. You know what I mean; whole sections of WalMart, Target, and warehouse stores dedicated to pencils, pens, rulers, white glue and notebooks and folders featuring Hannah Montana and High School Musical all over them. It’s retail’s dedication to sending you or your children back to the Halls of Academe. But today’s student requires much more than a backpack emblazoned with Zac Efron’s... Read more
Acer's entry into the netbook market, the Aspire One, makes good use of its Linux OS, but its specs aren't as good as some of the competition. Read more
I've just had this wonderful little tool for 24 hours, so I can't comment on battery life yet, but in every other respect it has fulfilled and surpassed my expectations. Based on all the reviews I had read, I was a bit worried about WiFi connectivity and fan noise. But it connected to my old 802.11.b wireless network in seconds, and the fan has yet to be audible (I'm using the SSD Linux version, so maybe that makes a difference). The keyboard is a breeze to type on, the... Read more
Comments about Acer Aspire One A110-1295 Notebook: The salesman told me to connect it to an external drive for added storage. What!!!??? That defeats the whole purpose. For plane trips it's a great size. But that storage capacity is going to need to be larger before this becomes useful. Keep working on it, Acer. Read more
I got this last summer, and although it's a lovely computer, I've had some issues with it. Firstly, my webcam decided to stop working, then I couldn't open Firefox, and finally, it would not allow me to access any network connections at all. I would love to restore it to it's factory settings, but the lack of CD drive prohibits that. As it is though, with the Linpus OS, the battery life is okay, and it's perfect for writing on a bus or train journey (and it was great for... Read more
I had pretty low expectations but using this netbook was much worse than I thought. The main issue here is the system keeps stalling and cannot present even simple Youtube videos without getting stuck constantly. Even remove all memory resident apps, including anti-virus and using the Google Chrome didn't get it to reasonable working condition. Also the keyboard and touch pad are the worst I have ever seen. Stay away. Spend 100$ more for a real low-end laptop and you... Read more
