Mini-notebooks are getting bigger and more elaborate by the day, but Acer enters the crowded market with a simple yet solid miniature laptop for only $379. The Aspire One sports a classic look and its Intel Atom processor gives it a decent amount of power for surfing the Web and light multimedia use. Taking a cue from ASUS’ well-received custom Linux interface, Acer packages the system with a lightweight, customized Linpus Lite Linux operating system. Read more

The Acer Aspire One is the best buy among netbooks at the moment. It's got good performance, solid build quality and good looks. The features for the price beat ASUS, Dell and HP. At $349, portable computing just got more affordable. And for those who aren't budget-constrained, the Acer is one cool ultraportable that's perfect for vacations, the living room sofa or anyplace else you want to use a small, light computer. Read more

While the netbook has 802.11b/g WiFi, neither Bluetooth nor 3G wireless broadband are included. The former can be had by plugging in a USB dongle; Acer has mentioned an internal upgrade for the latter, but there's no hard news as of yet. It's 3G we're thinking of when we say we wish the Aspire One had an ExpressCard slot like Lenovo's forthcoming IdeaPad S10. Acer's software bundle is modest. Read more

The Aspire One is everything a Small, Cheap, Computer should be. The build quality is excellent, the feature list is not half bad, and it certainly looks and feels the part. Indeed, it's the best-looking SCC we've seen. On the down side, the standard battery is poor and - with the Linux versions at least - getting online using a 3G network isn't straightforward. I t should come as no surprise to anyone that netbooks have suddenly become the most active segment in mobile computing over the past few months. These diminutive laptops offer excellent VFM, with their small size and excellent battery life. This has led to practically every manufacturer introducing some netbook variant or the other. It's Acer's turn now, with a launch under the 'Aspire One' brand. Let's find out how it fares. Read more

Is This The One?Acer is yet another laptop manufacturer fired up with the Netbook craze. Acer calls their version the Aspire One. Like the MSI Wind and the higher-end ASUS EeePC, this one too runs on the all new power saving Intel Atom processor — the 1.6 GHz N270.The Aspire One we received had a 120 GB hard drive, a three cell battery and a 9-inch screen. In terms of size, it is the smallest of all the Netbooks we’ve seen, but not by a lot. Read more

A few glitches aside such as near-useless track buttons, and no user adjustable screen brightness, the Acer Aspire One is the current pick of the breed. Figure in the curvier styling and shiny colours, and Acer moves to the top of the list, especially at the attractive price of £220. Read more

  1. This is a very fun little computer

We all know this fits into a specific classification of laptops, called netbooks. It is not a screamingly fast, tremendously capable computer that can acquire and plot the orbits of Earth-like planets in other solar systems. But...for what it is it's surprisingly useful and fun to have. I bought this Aspire One version about three months ago (and I see the price has dropped significantly since then, making it an even better deal). Read more

The ball "mouse" is hard to use. It would be much more helpful to use a product with a CD/DVD drive. I bought it to use it as a teacher, but I didn't read the fine print well and was surprised to learn there was no CD drive. It is extremely lightweight. It only runs LINUX so your applications work, but it is odd. Read more

I bought this model in the UK (TechnoWorld) in November 2010. I liked everything about it except for its infuriating tendency to Giovani freeze", whether working offline or online. In August 2011 it seized up completely, with the message "A disc read error occurred." The machine also became very hot to the touch. None of the suggested fixes worked. It looks like my chances of getting it fixed under guarantee in the Philipines, where I am currently staying, are zero. Read more

Okay so this computer (which i am writing on now) is not the largest of products. It doesn't really cope with the amount of tabs i have open in my "Opera" web browser either. But what i do know is that it becomes one of the easiest things to use since UN-sliced bread. When you turn it on it doesn't make a fancy noise like all Vista/Windows 7 systems do, as it runs on the Original Master "Windows XP" which works a treat. Read more

Comments about Acer Aspire One A110-1295 Notebook: The salesman told me to connect it to an external drive for added storage. What!!!??? That defeats the whole purpose. I very much like my new netbook. I was able to use the keyboard easily, which was one of my concerns as the device is so small. It is small and light and sturdy which was what I wanted. The only downsides are that the processor is slow and the fan is noisy and almost always on. I downloaded a program to alter the fan settings to make it quieter. Read more
