Summary: This is a good sounding ukulele with a pretty baritone sound (as compared to a higher pitched soprano ukulele which is the more familiar one by most untrained people like myself). If you've never tuned a baritone ukulele before, don't use the tuning guide that comes with the product, as that is for a soprano ukulele.
Summary: After researching various brands and reviews, I bought the Kala Makala baritone uke through Amazon. I didn't expect much considering the price ($77 delivered), but was astonished when it arrived... I couldn't believe how well made it is, and how rich it sounds. It stays in tune too, and "plays like buttah". Truely an excellent uke.
Summary: Good price and good sound. I thought my guitar was awesome, but now I always grab this before my guitar. It's easier to play, carry, and has a very fun sound, even tho it's 2 less strings. It didn't stay in tune very well when I first got it, but after tuning it repeatedly it's gotten much better. No bother tho, only takes a moment to tune when it gets out of tune. I wish it had a way to put a strap on it. I always find myself sitting to play it.
Summary: The ukulele was received in great shape, no marks or scratches. After I tuned the ukulele it sounded amazing, really deep and melodic. After only two weeks of playing the strings began to sound twangy. After I brought it in to a guitar shop, they noticed the Ukulele was warped and the bridge was too small. I got a new bridge installed as well as new strings and now it sounds incredible.
Summary: My son's music teacher recommended this ukulele as a way to get started with guitar lessons for a younger child (my son is 6). I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the instrument when it arrived, and the sound is quite good. It stays in tune for a few days at a time. The only drawback is that it didn't come with a case or bag.
Summary: This is my first ukulele, and I don't regret starting with a baritone one bit. At first sight, it's rather plain, but the sound it produces is rich and welcoming. My favorite part about this uke is that I can use guitar chords to learn and play songs, as it's tuned the same as a guitar (although it's lacking 2 strings). I would recommend this awesome instrument to anyone!
Summary: I've had my Makala Baritone for about a month now and absolutely love it. It sounded pretty good with the GHS strings it came with, but sounds incredible with the Aquilas I put on it. I highly recommend this instrument to anyone, I don't think it can be beat at the price.
Summary: I recently had the opportunity to handle one of these and the pure deep melody really surprised me. It sounded to me to be equal or better than some of the $300.00 models I tried. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to try a nice sounding Baritone Uke without spending a fortune.
