Great for beginners!

N. Garcia, amazon.com
1 November 2011
  • Summary: I got this for my 12 yr old to participate in band @ school. We are both new to the instrument world but it would cost $70 to rent a old used one at the school for a yr. This only cost a bit more and it was his own. I was worried that it was too cheap for an instrument but it has been wonderful for him. His teacher approved of it and he has played in a school concert with it and sounded great. This has been one of our best purchases yet.

Good product but incorrect description and awful support

Igor G. Smirnov, amazon.com
29 October 2011
  • Summary: The clarinet itself is quite good, especially for a beginner. No flaws, good materials and workmanship, very good carrying case. Cons: 1. Description is not correct. It says "Includes: Protective plush lined Case, mouthpiece with reed protector, and 2 reeds and reed holder." Mine didn't have "2 reeds and reed holder," one rid only and no holder. 2. Trying to contact customer service at Hisonic International, Inc.

Best instrument for beginner to intermediate students

Melissa, amazon.com

  • Summary: I admit i was skeptical about this clarinet. I mean for $149??? But i went ahead and looked at all the reviews and decided to go ahead and buy it for my daughter who is in her 1st year of band. Now I have been a clarinet player for 23 years and have an expensive clarinet that i love. I put this together and tried it out and was blown away by it's tone! Sounded throaty and beautiful, very impressed!

Incredible Value and Quality

Cubby Cat, amazon.com
17 September 2011
  • Summary: I have an older, very expensive Buffet clarinet but it needs to be reconditioned. (Although I am now retired, I used to play professionally when I was younger so I know a few things about the instrument.) After many years of not playing, I picked up my clarinet several months ago and started playing for fun. Because the Buffet really needs work on it I decided to try my luck on an inexpensive clarinet.

Great for the price

  • Summary: I don't know much about clarinets, but for about 100 bucks, this one can't be beat. It is perfect for my 5th grader's band class this year, although if he sticks with it for a few more years we might upgrade.

I like it.

  • Summary: This was our first clarinet ever and my ignorace was elimitaded by [...], many comment that its hard to blow or won't make a sound and that the clarinets are defective may be just the operators fault, I had the same problems at first and reseached them on how to put it together and how to learn to make a sound on the clarinet, and after that i think its a great instrument for the money and of course i need a lot more practice to learn to play but I now can make a sound...

Pleasantly surprised, nice tone and works very well

Kenneth Calhoun "StockTradingSuccess.com", amazon.com

  • Summary: As someone who's bought and played professional-grade over-$1K instruments for 30+ years, I was very skeptical about whether this budget clarinet would play, or if it did, if the tonality would be any good. I was pleasantly surprised, as this works fine. I got this for a family member who wants to learn clarinet, and didn't think it would be any good, since decent clarinets start at $500 retail and go up from there.

Hisonic Clarinet Is Good Quality

C. G. Coffey Jr. "'same as the drink cept spe..., amazon.com

  • Summary: Had to get my ex out from under a crazy rent to own clarinet deal. Was paying over a grand for a cheap clarinet. Got the Hisonic here. It's a good horn. Son has a little difficulty hitting the low notes, (6th grade first year clarinet player), but is adjusting and is getting used to it and his instructor says its just fine for a beginner clarinet. Said after the 8th grade if he has not mastered the lows on this we might want to upgrade, but for now its a good deal!
