Summary: this printer is OK, as long as you don't try to use all of its functions. It does not work with Ubuntu, it holds temporary changes, like using the manual feed permanently...needs all defaults restored after printing an envelope...as a scanner, the settings are counter-intuitive making duplex almost impossible, don't buy this printer new, I'll sell you mine cheap and it's barely used.
Summary: I will come back and write a longer review. Over the 2 years that I have owned this, i have come to regret this purchase over and over. Need to re install drivers every once in a while. Scan to PC feature does not work well. You have to initiate the scan from the pc. Cannot initiate scan from machine. Even better. If the toner is low, it gives errors when you are trying to just scan and save as pdf. Pro. Wifi connectivity is a big big plus.
Summary: I bought this printer and at the beginning I was happy with it. Wireless, printing and scanning worked fine. Then it quickly ran of of toner. So, I bought a new Samsung toner from Staples. When I replaced it, the printer was always giving the status "Replace Toner" and it did not print anymore. There were no way to delete the status message ! (even with the brand new toner) I think this is a design flaw.
Summary: I love this printer! Speed is great at printing, scanning, faxing and copying. The size is very compact compared to similar multi-function printers many of which have trays (paper and top feeder) sticking out and representing an inconvenient in small spaces. This one is very convenient when it comes to size and design. The one thing I hate is that they did not include a back lit display.
Summary: The Pros: reasonable toner costs, good print quality, wireless and network functionality work reasonably well The Cons: jams often on manual duplexing, need to reboot printer to recover from jams, annoying toner replacement messages, sometimes fails to wake from standby and must be unplugged. On the whole this has been a disappointing printer.
Summary: This printer was easy to setup, and works great. I bought this because I got tired of cheap inkjets drying up if used infrequently. I don't use a printer often, but when I do I want it to work. That was the motivation to go laser. Of course I want my printer to do everything, so need the multifunction. Wireless is a great convenience. And the enclosed paper tray is a feature one might overlook, but dusty paper can lead to paper jams, so it is nice to have.
