Summary: I know that the paper must take a sharp turn in there somewhere, and I guess there is no other way in unit that is this small. It hasn't jammed on me once, and i've probably printed 150-200 pages. Overall, very satisfied. ANd to top if off, I got free shipping:) Thanks Newegg!!
Pros: Cheap little printer, esp. when you catch it on sale. Pretty good print speeds, very nice scanner. Makes copies pretty well.
Cons: Still don't understand why any printer manufacturers don't send the USB A to B cable with their printers, because you know, that might make sense... but that aside, I have encountered absolutely no problems with this MFP.
Summary: I use it with XP, and my partner uses it with Ubuntu on two separate computer through a manual USB switch. I think this is a great bargain for a light-use home laser printer.
Pros: Easy to set up on my XP SP2 system. I am a light printer user and have used this unit for over a year with no problems whatsoever. Still on the starter toner, but all my printouts are clean and crisp with no streaking or spotting. I have never had a paper jam or feeder problem. Scanner software s...
Cons: Don't forget to buy a USB A/B cable, as it isn't included.
Summary: First, for whatever reason, it ships with only a "starter" cartridge; your toner "use" will decline with a new, full cartridge. I had a unit that wouldn't make the 180 after exiting the toner/fuser assembly to the output tray; I agree Samsung's online system isn't very good, but their actual,...
Pros: Sweet little machine. Great print quality. Does everything I could ask of it. Supporting s/w is good, good integration w/ Office/other products and character recognition s/w is great.
Cons: Ugly? The print console s/w (memory-hungry) wants to self-install as a startup item every time I print; annoying. Also see comments.
Summary: If you're looking for a good basic laser MFC, this is the one for you. Samsung products are great (I own a ML1200 laser printer too that's been working great for years). Much, much better than HP's printer line which are designed to milk your money for ink and cartridges.
Pros: Installation was a snap on Vista with the latest drivers from Samsung's website. I use it for printing and copying (rarely for scanning) and it does both well. I believe in the power of simplicity and MFC's can't be simpler to setup and operate than this one. Just today, I set it up to print thro...
Cons: None, if your expectations are reasonable for this class of machine.
Summary: I have gotten this printer and scanner to work in Fedora 6 and 7 and CentOS 5 with the newest drivers from the web. All the directions to set it up our on the web page where you download the drivers. There is also updated documentation on there website.
Pros: This printer is extremely fast with excellent print quality. I have printed out at least 100+ sheets from it already with no jams. Good documentation on the samsung website.
Cons: Don't waste your time trying to setup the printer using the driver CD. The drivers on the disk didn't work for me. Download them from the samsung website.
Summary: I bought this to replace several ink jets, it is now the network printer for the house. We don't really print that often, but when I do it's either a 1 page receipt or a 250 page manual. The trusty Samsung warms up in about a minute from sleep, and does what I need it to do every time, no problems.
Pros: Easy to set up, prints fast with good print quality. For the price, a most excellent all-in-one machine.
Summary: When feeding from the manual feed you need to wait until the entire page is fed and the rollers stop before adding your next sheet. The paper tray does stick out in back some so if you are planning on putting it flush up against a wall you are out of luck.
Pros: I had this for a little over a month now and am qutie pleased. Everything works great. Size is perfect to fit on my desk. Don't need a fax can use modem and scanner for that. Looks are great to. Fast to come up from sleep. Much cheaper than injet cartridges to buy, who need everything printed in ...
Cons: It has a hard time with peal-n-seal envelopes. They seem to jam a lot, it helps to lift the lid but still can jam. Not a big deal, I'll just feed regular envelopes or do labels. A little slow to scan but I don't use that often. Says it needs a hi-speed usb controller for optimal operation and I a...
