Good features & performance, osx support needs improvement
29 November 2011
Summary: Prints and scans well, can support additional handsets that are available separately. It's not absurdly heavy or complicated like some other reviewers have claimed, although the manual is surprisingly long. As long as it is, you would think they could have included mac setup instructions in there somewhere. You have to go searching for setup info on Panasonic's website if you want to set it up for mac. Took me a while but I eventually found it.
Summary: Ordered this for a business, and it works nicely. But, don't expect to be able to get toner for it. I ordered a new ink cartridge for this 1.5 months ago and the delivery date is between Sept 9th and Nov. 7th! What?! And that date was a push back date of the ORIGINAL backorder date. Total waste of money if you can't get toner. Make sure you can get toner before you buy a printer. Who would have thought that might be an issue?
Summary: It may help to know that I wanted this printer to take over some of the functions of my aging HP LaserJet (purchased in 1995), which still prints well but lacks the networking, scanning, faxing, emailing and so forth that the Panasonic features. Setting up the new Panasonic was pretty quick and painless--it's a bulky machine and really needs a highly dedicated and accessible space.
Could have--and SHOULD have been easier to set up.

Summary: In todays world, in order to operate the myriad of technological items we have to deal with on an increasingly regular basis, the product which is the simplest to set-up and learn is the winner...there are way too many products out there which require lengthy technical jargon-filled instructional manuals to choose from..
Summary: A previous reviewer noted that Panasonic hasn't done enough to support Mac users. I had to chase down a bunch of links to find a driver and, unlike many other peripherals, the product will not work at all without drivers. Once I tracked down the drivers, I found it works well. Considering there are many other products at this price point with Mac support, it simply doesn't make sense for a Mac user to choose this item.

Summary: It's a really big, heavy office item. Which doesn't quite fit home use. Not mine at least. Especially if one prefers Apple products: Its install CD only addresses PC's. And the customer-service aspect of the Panasonic site is kinda dim. (Ask a question, $28). And the install info doesn't come in a CD form, but via a number of downloads. (I'd had a bad winter, my provider's transponder's down, so I could only use dial-up access. Looooong ordeal.
Summary: Our office has a new Savin multifunction copier, fax, scanner machine ... and I love it. The Panasonic sounded like it did a lot of the same functions. Especially the sending of document scans to a scan folder or email. It also sends faxes to a computer file or email. This saves having to print out every fax. It can also send verbal messages from it's answering device to the computer as an audio file making it so much easier to store messages.
