Great MFP and value, Awesome Customer Service and Technical Support
18 October 2014
Summary: So far, so good with the Oki Data MB451 MFP. Arrived quickly, in perfect condition. Great price as well. I considered other MFP/AIO units with similar features, but was going to cost at minimum another $60, shipping included. Took a chance on this one based on price of course, but also features, decent reviews, plus supposedly good customer service. Customer Service I would have to see for myself as I'm someone who is hard to impress in that department.
Excerpt: I bought this printer thinking it would be a good all in 1 but the user interface makes it impossible to scan anything and the print quality deteriorates after about 1,500 prints. You start to get vertical lines in the output. The advise you'll get from OKI is to replace the drum unit, the drum that is rated for 25,000 copies. Do yourself a favour and don't buy a printer where the drum and toner are 2 separate units unless you don't need print quality.
Pros: Good Value, Fast
Cons: Difficult to Set Up, Quality, Difficult to Use
Summary: I have had this printer since June of 2013 & I can not believe the features & software that this little gem has!!! There are only 2 things that I have found that are lacking & that is there is no app for my Android phone to allow me to print from it (there is 3rd party software & Google cloud print though), & no Bluetooth option (which I can live without)! I would compare the features with almost any small office network laser printer I have ever used, & so much more!
Excerpt: I needed a general purpose black & white printer/scanner/fax for my local network of 8 PCs and I didn't want to spend a fortune on features I'd never use and didn't want to use an Inkjet for the obvious reasons: ink costs and dry-up over time, so a non-inject was the goal. I also didn't expect fancy capabilities such as network printing/faxing/scanning that is possible with typical office machines.
Pros: Fast Operation, Quiet, Reliable, Solid Build Quality
Excerpt: Since I purchased the machine 4 mos ago, I have had such an awful time order ink toner replacements. Everyone is always out of stock including OkiData. Wish I had been informed of this when I purchased product. From month to month, have to ask where will I be able to find ink toner?
Excerpt: I really liked how easy this was to set up. The unit has an "easy setup" feature in the menus that will walk you through choices for setting up the basics. If you want to get into more depth with the settings, you can easily go into the web-based configuration. This printer also comes with easy to use paperport scanning software. The print quality is really good as well as the print speed. There is a slight delay for the first page as it warms up, but it is not bad.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Easy To Use, Fast Operation, Great Print Quality, Quiet, Reliable
Excerpt: This seems like a very nice machine, but the configuration and setup utilities were obviously designed with IT professionals in mind. I'm very computer literate. I build my own machines and run our small office network. That said, I've been trying to figure out how to switch this machine from auto-answer fax to manual for about two hours. OKI has almost no help in their 6 different manuals(yes, 6) and I haven't been able to find any help online.
