Excerpt: Having had good experience with OKI in the past, I bought this 451B about a year ago. The drum is supposed to print about 15,000 copies and the toner is supposed to print about 5,000 pages. However, the counter says almost 20,000 copies and I am on my 6th drum and I've lost count of the toners. In the past 2 weeks the print has begun to rub off the pages onto anything that gets near them.
Great MFP and value, Awesome Customer Service and Technical Support
18 October 2014
Summary: So far, so good with the Oki Data MB451 MFP. Arrived quickly, in perfect condition. Great price as well. I considered other MFP/AIO units with similar features, but was going to cost at minimum another $60, shipping included. Took a chance on this one based on price of course, but also features, decent reviews, plus supposedly good customer service. Customer Service I would have to see for myself as I'm someone who is hard to impress in that department.
Excerpt: I bought this printer thinking it would be a good all in 1 but the user interface makes it impossible to scan anything and the print quality deteriorates after about 1,500 prints. You start to get vertical lines in the output. The advise you'll get from OKI is to replace the drum unit, the drum that is rated for 25,000 copies. Do yourself a favour and don't buy a printer where the drum and toner are 2 separate units unless you don't need print quality.
Pros: Good Value, Fast
Cons: Difficult to Set Up, Quality, Difficult to Use
Summary: I have had this printer since June of 2013 & I can not believe the features & software that this little gem has!!! There are only 2 things that I have found that are lacking & that is there is no app for my Android phone to allow me to print from it (there is 3rd party software & Google cloud print though), & no Bluetooth option (which I can live without)! I would compare the features with almost any small office network laser printer I have ever used, & so much more!
Summary: If you're an IT professional that needs a multi-function machine without a lot of toner capacity, this might be a decent product. For an amateur use, the setup process is a nightmare, and for a professional that does a lot of printing, having to constantly replace toner cartridges is both annoying and expensive in comparison to other units. The $99 Brother printer I bought this to replace had toner cartridges available for 10K page capacity.
Pros: This machine has plenty of features, and was on sale for 129.95 when I purchased it. It was a great deal for the price. The print quality is good and the machine seems to work very well and doesn't have problems with jams.
Cons: The setup process is HORRIBLE for basic users. I'm a techie with plenty of experience building PC's and setting up small networks. It took hours to get this machine set up properly and I had to scour the internet for proper documentation. The on-command fax reception feature only seems to work about 50% of the time. The rest of the time the machine thinks you want to send a fax instead of receive one. Also, the printer has a duty cycle of 50,000 pages per month but th...
Summary: I got tired of buying ink for my inkjet printer and researched laser printers. Since I am a college student, I have to type and print many papers. I have not used the doublesided feature, although it is offered, which is super. I connected the fax and it works perfect. This printer is quick, sturdy and beats the prices compared to other multi-function laser printers. I highly recommend and super happy I picked this one.
Great printer until OKIDATA RAN OUT OF INK NATIONWIDE UNTIL SEPTEMBER!!!!!!!!!
9 July 2013
Summary: I use thus printer for work, it's been great. I've had it for three months, I go through an ink cartridge a week! The I had two differs companies cancel my order for more ink. I was informed Okidata was out of ink NATIONWIDE until September. I spoke to them directly and they confirmed it.
Excerpt: Since I purchased the machine 4 mos ago, I have had such an awful time order ink toner replacements. Everyone is always out of stock including OkiData. Wish I had been informed of this when I purchased product. From month to month, have to ask where will I be able to find ink toner?
