Summary: I have a lexmark X544. Absolute worst printer I have ever had. Refills only print 200 pages or none at all. Will randumly print unknown letters at the top of the page and not what it is to print. Call help line, disconnected 5 five time. Stay away from this company.
Summary: Printer works well over ethernet, not much to complain about there The toner that comes with the printer runs out after about 50~100 pages of very light color use(text and small images)..... Pretty much a demo scam for the ink. My 3 other Dell Color Laser printers all lasted over 1000 pages at the same usage level... Buyer beware- the toner cost must be factored into the purchase of the printer in less than a month or so of ownership.
Summary: At the time I bought this it was the best printer as far as price and performance. Of course when I purchased it there was a price war going on and the cost was around $325 with free shipping. Now that the price is back up to over $400 I'm not sure that it is still the best choice. Sorry, but you'll just have to do your research. But to review this printer, it is a great color printer.
Summary: This multi-functional printer comes with automatic duplex color printing, and it has a 600dpi scanner that supports scanning from both flatbed and document feeder. It comes with a RJ45 jack to support network printing/scanning, and it supports Windows's WSD protocol so the printer is automatically detected and installed without hassle. It supports PostScript printer language, so no problem printing from other operating system such as Linux.
Could not print a clean page of text right out of the box

Summary: I had no trouble setting up this printer according to manufacturer's instructions. This included installing the drivers and physically taking the printer out of the box, removing all the tape, setting up all the trays, etc. My problem seems to be a physical/mechanical problem with the printer itself. When I went to register the printer, there were instructions to tell the printer to print out a few pages of information so that I could get the SID to register the printer.
Summary: The printed output from the x543 is great. Crisp, colorful - exactly what I'd hoped. And, it's reasonably quiet. Double-sided printing works perfectly (though it does slow output). Contrary to what the previous reviewer said, I am offered the option to print double-sided on every document, in every application. (And you can buy the toner right here on Amazon.) However, the scanner is a nightmare.
Summary: The features included fast printing, full color, automatic double sided printing (w/o fax option). It will work as a network printer, too. It was clearly designed to work with Windows, but it is also sold as Mac OS compatible, and the User Manual walks you though set-up steps with Windows or Mac OS at the same time. It is thorough. Thank goodness it's in HTML format, too. I'm a long time HP printer user (30+ years) and I wary of other brands.
Summary: Comments about Lexmark X543DN Multifunction Printer: I PAID A LITTLE MORE THAN MY BUDGET BUT THIS PRINTER HAS ALL THE THINGS I NEED- DUPLEX, COLOR LASER JET, SCAN AND NETWORKING CAPABILITY. I AM REALLY SATISFIED.
Pros: Easy Setup, Fast Operation, Great Print Quality
Summary: This printer just managed to pass it's warranty period before expiring. The repair would cost more than a new printer. During it's (short) life the running costs were high as toner is pricey. While it worked the quality was good and the speed fine but no where near enough to justify its short life.
Summary: Printing was reasonably competent, copying fine and scanning a bit tedious with poor software. However the big problems were running costs. It gobbled toner and needed a new fuser unit after less than eighteen months of light use. My last laser (an OKI) lasted nearly six years before it finally got retired. I didn't buy new drums when they finally needed renewing as a new printer appeared to be cheaper. I now realise that this was a false economy.
