Summary: This printer does well for everything except PDFs. We frequently print patient handouts in our medical office. A double-sided PDF with this printer requires 1 minute 20 seconds to finish! Way too slow for our busy office. Other kinds of printing are fine. This slow printing is the same for both Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows 7 as a network printer.
Summary: I work at a major retail chain and they purchase these machines. We currently purchased a new one because of constant jamming and the new one does the exact same thing. It wastes more paper than you can actually use. We didn't purchase from Amazon but Lexmarks website doesn't allow you to review although they have great reviews on the site. Interesting.
Summary: I bought this about 18 months ago. The printer has a 12 month warranty. Suddenly, it started shutting down just when I would start to print, scan or copy something. I called support and after trying one thing different, the problem still persisted. The support person then referred me to a local repair technician who quoted me $150/hour + $17 for gas. Minimum 1 hour charged. A few days later, my printer died.
Worst printer I have EVER owned in the history of printers
Sandy Ward, Amazon
5 April 2013
Summary: First printer ever, I could not install printer/scanner software right out of the box with factory software. Finally got printer working but Scanner would not install, kept getting message "Device Not Found". Lexmark removed in and took 1-1/2 hours to get Scanner working. About a month later, scanner just quit working. Lexmark remoted in again.. technician couldn't figure it out and decided it needed a new "board" (Printer is not even two months old at this point).
Summary: Looked at reviews for reliable, low cost per copy, fast, consumer grade copier-printer. Lexmark came out at the top. This is our first experience with a consumer grade machine - the 35cpm duplexing RADF machine we kept at home after closing our copier business a decade ago was starting to break. Unboxed and set it up with no problems, got it networked easily enough. We will not use the fax feature.
Summary: I ORDERED THIS TO USE AS AN ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER AND HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE THE WEEK I HAD IT. IT WOULDN'T RECEIVE FAXES, IT JAMMED HALF THE TIME WHEN WE TRIED MAKING COPIES, AND IT TOOK 2 DAYS OF REINSTALLING DRIVERS FOR IT TO WORK AS A PRINTER. AFTER MUCH ANGUISH, AND OUR OFFICE TECH CONFIRMING CORRECT SET UP, I SENT THIS BACK TO AMAZON AND ORDERED A BROTHER ALL-IN-ONE THAT IS WORKING BEAUTIFULLY. AMAZON WAS GREAT WITH THE RETURN.
Summary: This is our 2nd X364. The first one runs almost continuously around a bunch of ham-handed people who don't care if it breaks. If you want a sturdy printer, you have to step up and pay the price.
I will never purchase major equipment from Amazon again

Summary: This Lexmark printer is one of the worst pieces of technology I've every owned. In the past I could return defective equipment. I was surprised to find that the return window was less than 30 days after I received the printer. After investing over $300 to have my tech set up and reset up the printer - we figured out the software is defective. I've purchased thousands and thousands of dollars in TVs, printers, cameras and other major equipment from Amazon.
