Defective Product from Lexmark, poor customer service

kent r ficklin, Amazon
3 June 2014
  • Summary: Bought this printer 2 1/2 months ago. It had issues faxing from the day of arrival. Lexmark customer service worked with us over the phone on several occasions troubleshooting and was rude on occasions during the process. They finally figured out the at the feeder has been defective. We emailed them our purchase order and they claimed the printer is not covered under warranty because the company Bakerstown Sales is not an authorized seller.

X204n = Lemon

Sfbuyer, Amazon
29 January 2013
  • Summary: Bought this in June 2012 and in that time I must have called tech support about 5-6 times due to repeated malfunctioning of the device driver software/ firmware. Worked fine initially, but then the fax malfunctioned, it would not send faxes unless you powered off the machine & turned it back on. Then it would print goobly goop characters and continue printing without end until you took out the paper tray to give you a chance to cancel the print job.

THE worst printer I have ever worked with. Period.

M. Eastland, Amazon
16 November 2011
  • Summary: Pro: it prints. Cons: There is nothing else that this pile of junk doesn't fail to do. It's scanning interface is indecipherable. It can't scan to e-mail. It can't use the document feeder. It can't stop printing reports for all of its myriad failed jobs. What's more? Lexmark's support site is as big a mess as it's miserable products. I will NEVER buy anything Lexmark again. This is literally the worst peice of equipment I have ever used.

  • Excerpt: One of the worst multifunctions I ever seen and tried... the worst thing is that I buyed it :\ The initial feeling was not the best, specially from the ADF, too thin, too weak, the drawer is very weak and simply touching make it drop. The printing function is not so bad, the sheet loader works...

Jams right out of the box

J. Whitted, Amazon
2 December 2010
  • Summary: The ADF constantly jams, grabs multiple pages, or doesn't see when a new page starts. Tried three differing kinds of paper and this happens on all of them. We have used three of these printer and all three have this problem, even after they have been replaced by Lexmark. The only time that it did not jam was when I use paper that has no print on it. I cannot recommend the product for this reason. Going to look for a different brand.

Not happy with the X204n

A. Arom "AA", Amazon
9 June 2010
  • Summary: I had to discard the X204n after about eight months. The feeder is flimsy; it misses pages, and sometimes the pages get stuck in it, The printer makes good prints, but light-colored fonts are a problem even when you set the printer to "dark" The software is unusually slow, and not user friendly. It is so bad that I felt it is unfair to sell it to anyone, even though it is relatively new.

Remember the printer from Office Space?

Jason J "Jason J", Amazon
26 April 2010
  • Summary: This is a product that has shown me that at least if nothing else Lexmark has good customer support. We have had multiple issues with this printer. First off, it jams very easily when feeding papers. After continuing this problem for a month, I called Lexmark and they sent a replacement. The replacement had the exact same issues as the original. Clearly, its a flaw in the model and not the particular machine we had.

Dead on Arrival

Bhupinder S. Sondhi, Amazon
24 January 2010
  • Summary: Took it out of the box and got it all connected. Vista was able to get the correct driver downloaded and I was good to go. Printed a couple pages which showed good laser quality. 15 minutes later it was DEAD. I disconnected and re-connected but no luck. It just did not boot. So I had to return it.

  • Summary: One of the worst multifunctions I ever seen and tried... the worst thing is that I buyed it : The initial feeling was not the best, specially from the ADF, too thin, too weak, the drawer is very weak and simply touching make it drop. The printing function is not so bad, the sheet loader works quite well, only a couple of jamming occurred in one year and a half, manual feeder is also quite good.
