Summary: Did not see that I was purchasing a reconditioned machine. Lexmark not making them any more. However, my previous machine was wonderful and I had a lot of new ink, so I got this one, it was defective, and Lexmark sent me a replacement that so far seems like the new machine I purchased almost 4 years ago. I will reluctantly purchase future machines next time from a manufacturer that is still making new machines.
Cons: Definitely a design flaw. Had a printhead replaced free of charge and will need another one now. I use Black Ink Print ONLY for School and none in color. I'm having the problem with the black ink as it either prints very weak or prints squares
Summary: Bought this Lexmark Pinnacle Pro901 printer in 2010 based on the very good reviews at the time. At first, we experienced good quality printing and scanning. It lasted about one year before the print quality began to suffer. After performing all the recommended troubleshooting procedures, replaced the print head at a cost of about $36. This resolved the problem . . . but only temporarily. After about 8 more months, the same print quality problem occurred.
Summary: I bought this model a year and half ago due to the inexpensive black printing sales pitch. I can not find the inexpensive black cartridges anywhere. The cartridges are costing me about $19 for the 105XL. On top of that, Lexmark has a software program that does not let you print in all black if it has somehow deemed that one of the colored cartridges is out of ink (even if the colored ink cartridge is still printing color).
works good black and white but poor color performance
16 June 2012
Summary: This printer works ok for low volume black and white printing. The color printing is below par. Even on simple color graphics streaks and smears are common. If you would like to print an occasional photo you definatly don't want this printer. The fax scan and copy functions work well and the low black ink cost is real nice.
"Choose another Lexmark, this has print head problems"
16 April 2012
Pros: Easy set up wirelessly, very easy to use although a little slow, print is of medium good quality.
Cons: Every time I change ink cartridges (3 times), within 3-5 days I get print head error message. Contact Lexmark support and after many unsuccessful attempts to solve problem they say you have defective printhead cartridge, and send me a new one.
Summary: I bought this printer for my office because of the low cost per page printing (Plus office depot had it on sale!) Although each cartridge doesn't print anywhere near 500 pages, it still prints at a lower price than the HPs I'd been using. I did have a problem with the printhead like many others but Lexmark sent me a replacement which has worked out pretty well. I've had it for about 176 days now and printed out 1511 pages, using about 5 black cartridges so far.
Summary: I bought this printer based on ratings and repair history. I wanted to make sure it would work with my iphone and ipad in addition to my pc. it works great with the pc but not the apple products. Lexmark makes an App but all the app lets you do is print photos and websites. but the catch is, you have to put the URL into the Lexmark app (or browser, whatever you want to call it). print quality and fax use is great.
Summary: I have this printer for more than a year now. It has a lot of good points: five year warranty, cheap black ink cartridges. As others mentioned, the printhead might break (mine did) and Lexmark replaced it. Good to see Lexmark stand behind its products. I would absolutely love this printer if not for one glaring problem. Every few days, the printer would lose its network connection.
Summary: We bought this last November and last month is started to print red ink blocks on the paper when it first warms up for the first several prints. It does this even when you are just printing a black and white letter. I have never had this problem with any printer before. I did buy the correct ink that is for this Lexmark printer. I would not buy this product again, it has not lasted the year.
