Worst Customer Service and Product Ever - Avoid
1 week ago
Summary: Worst Customer Service! Waited 2 hours, told it is normal for this printer NOT to print if it does not have ALL the ink cartridges filled, even though it is set to print in black ink only. I bought this because it had high reviews in Consumer Reports, but this is a scam. Constantly jams, can't enable USB and WiFI at the same, turn itself on at 1 AM everyday to spit out ink on its own, supposedly its a safety feature so ink wont dry, takes 5 minutes for this printer to...
Summary: The Pro 5500 arrived as promised and is performing as expected. I used the previous Lexmark quite heavily and was pleased about the less cost per printed page. I used the Return Cartridge program, which further lessened the cost of printing.
Summary: I received this product but was not able to get it to scan or email after several hours working with the support. In the end the online / phone support tried to charge me additional amounts to get the driver installed (not the one that came with the product) and to get it working. I was very very disappointed and trying to get this set up wasted several hours of my time. Don't make the same mistake I made!
Summary: After having two other brand printers die in a short timespan (about 2 years) I decided to upgrade to a office level printer for my home office. I did extensive research and decided on the Lexmark Office Edge Pro 5500. When printing textual documents the quality is the best I have ever seen. When printing graphics not so much. More than good enough for home or small office use, but as one review stated you might not want to print sales brochures on it.
Did my research, thought I chose wisely...NOT - Wish I could give it 0 stars

Summary: Update: It's been a four weeks since my initial review below. The printer is still leaving black edging on the side of the printed page. I hated this printer so much, I gave it away. I will not buy any more multifunction printers - they do not last more than a few years regardless of how much you pay. By the time they break down the manufacturer no longer supports or services the model. This has happened with 2 HP's, and 1 Cannon. This Lexmark is FIRED!
Summary: Like everybody else: looked long and hard deciding on a replacement all-in-one. It's really nice to print at home those special shots with trust that a printer company can provide you with the best machine for the price. After choosing OfficeEdge Pro5500 I justified by spending the extra Bucks that I would have a top of the line printer, office grade at HOME. After all 500.00 asking price should be the right one?
Summary: Every time I try to print something, "the duplex is not installed properly", meaning that I have to beat the printer senseless until it finally spits out what I want. On top of this, when the colored ink runs out, it refuses to print in black-and-white until I buy more color ink. Every time I use this printer I end up violently beating something, whether it's the side of the printer or just my head against the desk.
Summary: This double-sided scanner kicks the pants off of my prior HP printer. The only downside is when I scan large documents, the file size of the output is still pretty large, making it difficult to e-mail. And, yes, I have changed the scan settings from image/photo to lines and text or text only. I looked at Best Buy, Office Depot, read tons of tech reviews, and feel very good about this purchase.
Summary: 10/21/13. Addition: we have 3 of these printers now. 30 years of using computers in the office and this is the most useful printer I have ever bought. It is as fast as a home grade laser printer (except for first page out, maybe), it is the easiest to refill (no holes to drill!), it is quiet, it can take a 2nd tray (and if the paper in the other tray is of a different size you don't even need to select the tray, the printer will know from which tray to take the paper.
