Summary: I bought this for my business printing. We print lots of engineer reports. We already have a Konica Minolta bizhub c220 so we knew the good quality of KM printing it is. That's one of the motive to purchase this one. Setup directly USB line to PC is very easy. However, the trick is that the function of scan is set up separately with another setup CD. It took me a while to find out why scan did not work even after I setup the printing function.
Summary: A few bumps during setup but not bad. Too bad they can't throw out the old installer interface and write a new one. If you have an IT background, have a sense of adventure or aren't afraid to call Konica-Minolta tech support, you'll be pleased. Otherwise exercise a little caution.
Summary: This multifunction is extremely nice for the price. Full color with network capabilities, I can't imagine how much something similar would've cost just two years ago. Setup was a complete hassle. I do enterprise networking for a living, and have never come across a more fickle piece of hardware. Couldn't figure out how to manually input IP address via the printer's LCD menu, manuals were of little use.
Summary: Got a great deal on this unit at $250 for an "all in one" laser. Simple to use and print quality is just what you would expect form a laser printer. Did have an issue with this printer and had to call for teck support. The people a Konica Minolta where just great. They sent out a new part at no cost to me. I would not hesitate to buy another one when needed.
Excerpt: Hoping the cartriges I bought after the ones installed in the printer (lasted only a month!) have a longer life. I bought two of these, I called to see if they would match a better price on line and they did, thanks so much!
Pros: Accurate Colors, Efficient, Fast, Inexpensive, Sharp Detail
Excerpt: Owned a Konica Minolta printer prior and it did an excellent job. Needed a newer, network ready printer and purchased the Multi-function 1690 to get rid of my stand alone fax machine. Very pleased with the features (especially to document feeder). Many functions have a commercial feel and it was a great choice for my home office.
Excerpt: when i first got the printer, i was a bit shocked. description, images and reviews made me believe that the printer is way smaller than its actual size. it is pretty big - at least compared to the other all in one ink solutions.<br />i connected it via network and cd printer drivers were installed fairly smoothly on my macs. the big issue came when i asked to install the scanner driver.
Excerpt: Printer seems to have nice output. Heard it was difficult to setup, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Windows setup was a bit tricky (more IP address entering than I would have liked), but it worked fine with Mac OS 10.6 using the latest drivers from KM's website. The printer showed right up with Bonjour turned on. Haven't tried scanning yet, but overall it seems like a great color laser MF for the money.
