Problems with the Minolta Magicolor 1690MF multifunction s/w

Summary: The print outs are very good. While the literature for the printer indicates that it is Mac compatibleI have been unable to get the FAX software installed (I'm running and iMac with OSX installed). I get a message that my iMac is not compatible with the Minolta s/w. Actually, the Minolta FAX software is not compatible with my iMac. Maybe the s/w needs to be updated.
Summary: I have been using this printer for a few months now, and the print quality is very nice. My only complaint with the machine is that if you try to put more than 4 or 5 pieces of paper in the document feeder at once, the first couple of pages feed crooked. I have tried adjusting the feeder guides and holding the pages straight when they start to feed, but to no avail. I frequently work with contracts that are 15+ pages, so this is an issue for me.
Excerpt: Even though this is an office model, we bought it for our home because we wanted the three functions and because we have had several printers in the past that did not last long. My son and I will also be printing, etc. for our jobs. Somehow my husband missed the detail that it is not wireless so we will have to upgrade it in order to be able to print from multiple computers conveniently.
Pros: Durable Construction, Good print quality, Reliable
Cons: Hard to scan or copy book, Large Footprint, Not wireless
Summary: First off, I have to say that the color printing on this is fantastic for the cost. If you plan on using it primarily as a printer and need only occasional copy/fax/scanning, this is a good place to look. If you intend to use the feeder often, skip this and look elsewhere. Color images come out clear, though not especially heavy or saturated on the colors, while black and white is extremely fast, has insanely crisp resolution, and toner lasts forever.
Cheap color laser prints + expensive toner = you get what you pay for

Summary: I've had this printer for several months and would overall rate it as mediocre, but the base machine now sells for ~$250 online so you get what you pay for. Compared to prior Brother lasers, the KM is very noisy, slow, counter-intuitive to set up, crippled in a Mac OS 10.6 environment, and has largely dismal support online and by phone. So, be certain you're willing to accept these trade-offs in return for decent color prints, adequate scans, and OK faxes.
Summary: I was excited to receive my magicolor 1690MF and had no problem setting it up. I followed the instructions and it went flawlessly. My previous printer was a Dell 1320c which I loved but after 5 years of hard use, it died. As a homeschool family, we seem to constantly need to be printing, copying or faxing something. So we decided to go with an all-in-one, which would allow us to eliminate our old flatbed scanner. It was quick to scan and print.
Summary: Overall I'm pleased with this product. However be aware of a few things. When it is not in sleep mode it is pretty noisy. The software could be a lot better. Things take 5 button pushes when they should really have been doable in 2 or 3. The web interface is confusing badly documented and lacks useful validation feedback. I bought this machine so I could scan to an SMB share in this case hosted by a linux samba server.
Pros: низкая цена
Cons: В Петербурге нет картриджей в магазинах, только на заказ. Картриджи не заправить. При низком уровне одного из тонеров перестает печатать вообще.
