Summary: The new 1690 MF is cheaper to buy than buying new cartridges, fuser and imaging cartridge. The document feeder is almost worthless, since it jambs easily, and takes very few pages. The color printing is great.
Summary: We had a Lexmark x543 for many years and it worked great until it started acting funny after a recent move. Unfortunately for us, toner started to leak on the edges of all printed pages. Instead of trying to repair the old printer, we decided to buy the Konica Minolta since it was cheap and we wanted a 5-in-1 to replace the Lexmark. Big mistake. My wife is currently going back to school and is constantly printing things out for class.
Summary: I have owned 2 of these. The first one I screwed up while cleaning it with an Air Hose to blow the dust out of the inside of the unit The second one is going strong and is very dependable. It produces very high quality copies. Scans very well with appropriate prompts and is a very good FAX machine. I have called Konika Minolta for cleaning assistance and questions with Toner Refills. I have learned the proper way to clean the machine.
Problems with the Minolta Magicolor 1690MF multifunction s/w

Summary: The print outs are very good. While the literature for the printer indicates that it is Mac compatibleI have been unable to get the FAX software installed (I'm running and iMac with OSX installed). I get a message that my iMac is not compatible with the Minolta s/w. Actually, the Minolta FAX software is not compatible with my iMac. Maybe the s/w needs to be updated.
Thank God I broke the beast during the extended warranty!

Summary: The 2nd sheet of paper I fed from the paper tray on this animal jammed. I resorted to tricky hand feeding. The unlit display kept telling me it was out of paper unless I had the tray completely full of paper. I bought Hammermill 20 lb. The one they advertise as 'jam free'. It did a bit better, maybe jamming every third sheet. Once, it actually printed out 10 sheets without a jam! Imagine my delight! Then the day came when I had to replace toner.
Summary: The printer works great....the issue is installing the software is so difficult. ..would not recognize it on my laptop or desktop with windows ....finally after 5 times of installing then removing and reinstalling it worked...until I had to reset my modem then it wouldn't work. .gave up and called professional to install. ...took him 3 hours.
Summary: Lets just say I'm disappointed in myself. Anytime I make purchase on anything substantial or computer related I do a fair share of research before I make a purchase and this is probably the only product I've ever purchased where I failed. I purchased this printer almost 3 years ago. It seemed like the best bang for the buck, given that its a multifunction color laser printer and on average it was a 4 star product at the time.
Summary: This machine was one that I had never heard of, but the price was right for a laser color printer. I tried it, and had to call customer service for wireless printing and scanning help. The customer service is really great for this company. They can take over your computer and make installs, or to fix issues. It prints beautifully. The ink last for awhile. Its been one year, and I'm still on the same carriages.
Summary: As this deveice is mult-function I will rate each as I see it. I am not your regular user as I have been an IR Pro fr over 20 years and have been certified to repair printers and other IT devices. Here we go... Printing: + The printer works fin if not a bit slow - The printer has more noise than most other printers, even in sleep mode. + The image printed is acceptable - The printer can not handle large print jobs. It very hot and then the page start jamming.
Summary: I have been using this printer for a few months now, and the print quality is very nice. My only complaint with the machine is that if you try to put more than 4 or 5 pieces of paper in the document feeder at once, the first couple of pages feed crooked. I have tried adjusting the feeder guides and holding the pages straight when they start to feed, but to no avail. I frequently work with contracts that are 15+ pages, so this is an issue for me.
