Summary: Broke within 12 months. Kodak tried to offload a recon unit on me which I refused. Viking replaced with new model. 12 months later broke again. In the same week my mums exact same model also broke with exactly the same symptoms. Goes through ink like any other machine in fact I would say it uses more ink than some machines I have owned. Had to deal with Kodak rep in India or somewhere similar who was hard to understand. Viking were very good.
Failed after 15 months and Kodak don't want o know
gary shaw, Amazon
21 August 2013
Summary: Bought this in April 2012 and after 15 months in August 2013 it stopped printing black. I wasted 1 hour of my life with Kodak Support on an 0870 number only to be told the printhead had failed and they would sell me another for £21. Thanks guys!! Called Amazon and they were no use either just referred me back to Kodak. Save your money and buy something that will last.
Summary: Bought because I wanted a wireless printer but over 6 months needed 3 new print heads, no problem getting them from Kodak but just a waist of time. Amazon were great taking it back. well done AMAZON. Bought an Epson XP600 this is a fantastic printer much better quality.
Summary: The Kodak 5.1 has been a pain since I bought it. It lasted 10 months before jamming and becoming completely stuck. Replaced with a reconditioned one that made a terrible howling noise. Replaced again with another terrible reconditioned unit that instantly had blocked magenta cartridge. Ink consumption is Olympic gold medallist, it drinks a set of inks at least in a month for medium use when it worked. (I am a teacher - print out lesson plans etc).
Summary: This is a RIP-OFF. Please believe the negative reviews - if you read them, they are very consistent with the same old problems affecting people. I was pleased with the easy set-up and Amazon delivery but these are the many flaws which mean I cannot recommend this at all, to anyone. 1) Very few sheets of paper can be loaded into the tray at one time. a small pinch so maybe 20-30 sheets max. Jams with any more than this.
Summary: this printer was great while it was working but all of a sudden stopped printing black so changed cartridge still no joy then the problems really started ie kodak support or should i say lack of it it took 2 emails for them to respond and effectively there is a common test proceedure for testing once that is exhausted they just do not respond any more 3 emails later still no response even after i have sent the necessary info they require the ink maybe cheaper but the...
Summary: I bought this printer in January 2012 and I now find that I need a new printer head. Brilliant!! One years use and start paying out big bucks for replacement parts. And then there is the infamous ink cartridge use which seems to increase as the printer head wears. You will never get the usage claimed in Kodak publicity. Load of rubbish!!
Summary: I was assured by the Kodak Rep in PC Worls Warrington today that the inks supplied 'were not like other manufacturers...these are full, standard inks' When I suggested they were probably 50% like everyone else he said 'No'. I managed to get just 40 A4 printed at 'best' setting - and then the BLACK was out of ink! The label on the black says you get 670 pages (OK I accept set-up' test doc' was printed and that is suposed to use more - but only 1 doc was test printed.
Summary: Yes, it might have the cheapest printer cartridges around, but THEY LAST NO TIME AT ALL! We are now on our third set of cartridges, and are now counting the number of sheets we print from each cartridge. I can't believe no one else has commented on this. Also, the info and packaging stated tablets could print with it, but guess what, it will not print from the IPad! Really sorry i bought this printer.
Summary: I only bought printer about 5 months ago. Haven't really printed much then had to replace the ink cartridge. The first one was faulty so had to get another one which then worked but then the black ink wasn't working. we then replaced the black ink but it's still not working. We've now decided to buy another printer as it's just not worth the hassle.
