Summary: Seemed like the perfect package with the reasonably priced printer, low running costs and all in one. Within 4 months this printer was broken, the print-head stopped printing anything magenta so that rendered it useless. But as i found the running costs arent that amazing, for black and white its more than decent but the colour was a different story; this was solely due to the colour cartridge containing CYM (cyan yellow magenta) all in one and as soon as one of these...
Summary: I am on my third Kodak Hero 5.1 printer which has just packed up (printhead problem). None have lasted more than a year. Each time Kodak has replaced the faulty one but exactly a year later it stops working. I find the ink cartridges don't last long either. I am not going to bother telling them about this latest failure but just avoid Kodak printers in future. They are not built to last, I'd certainly expect more than a year at any rate.
Summary: This only lasted me 6 months. I had a new printer head replaced within that time by Kodak, the service for that was fine and they sent me a new one as soon as I told them the problem I was having. The reason I replaced it was the paper kept getting stuck and I just couldn't use it. I would never buy another, I've gone back to Epson again.
Summary: I've had this about a year and have tried to soldier on with it. I have never had so many issues with a printer as this one. It loses the standard settings for every single document I print, even if I'm printing a set of documents, so I have to keep going in and reapplying defaults (like duplex). It constantly jams every time it prints, and has a particular issue with printing on both sides of a piece of paper.
Summary: Thought this printer was going to be economical.......sadly not. The print head needed replacing after 13 months. (just our of warranty) Now a year on and it needs replacing again. So that would cost me £45. The inks might be cheaper but the printer should last a bit longer. I only use it now and again! Will not be buying a Kodak printer again.
Summary: Broke within 12 months. Kodak tried to offload a recon unit on me which I refused. Viking replaced with new model. 12 months later broke again. In the same week my mums exact same model also broke with exactly the same symptoms. Goes through ink like any other machine in fact I would say it uses more ink than some machines I have owned. Had to deal with Kodak rep in India or somewhere similar who was hard to understand. Viking were very good.
Summary: A) Useful to put a potted plant on (don't water if plugged in) B) cannot reach something? Stand on this printer for extra reach C) recommend as a great printer to someone you dislike intensely. As a printer? Grief no. I have wasted so much time and thown good money after bad on replacing ink cartridges for this useless printer. I have so nearly thrown it out the window so many times. Kodak should stick to making photographic film...oh...yea....bit late...
Failed after 15 months and Kodak don't want o know
Amazon Customer, Amazon
21 August 2013
Summary: Bought this in April 2012 and after 15 months in August 2013 it stopped printing black. I wasted 1 hour of my life with Kodak Support on an 0870 number only to be told the printhead had failed and they would sell me another for £21. Thanks guys!! Called Amazon and they were no use either just referred me back to Kodak. Save your money and buy something that will last.
Summary: Cheap is as cheap does.... Bought this because my Canon Pixma was costing me a fortune in inks. Ran like a dream for 4 months - V. happy. Then without warning, error code after error code. Tried to get Kodak to sort it, but their own website failed to recognise the fact I had registered the product (I had the email to prove it.. duhhhh). Smashed the printer to bits in a fit of rage! Now it's deffo broke, but at least I feel better.
