I would never buy a kodak 5300 printer ever again
9 September 2012
Excerpt: I bought the kodak 5300 all in one printer from walmart and as soon a got home open the box and install my new printer. when I plug in my printer and install the printer cartrige the printer started smoking. I quickly turn it off and call customer service. I got help in my first try and they told that they would sent me a new printer in a week. Great customer service. A week went by and i did not see my printer.
Summary: I needed a new All-In-One printer as my last one broke down! This one SOUNDED great! However, when I got it it wouldn't print in black. I had purchased (based on item description) two more NEW black ink cartridges. I tried both but neither let the machine print in black. The monitoring screen shows the black ink quantity being used but it doesn't come out on the paper.
Summary: printer is three times slower than my old HP 5550 and four times slower than my old Windows 98 Epson scanner. Good color on prints but the ink level drops more rapidly than the HP so that the lower cost of the cartridges does not save money.

Summary: Well, we got this product from a local retailer, not from amazon, they exchanged it and the 2nd printer failed to print on black and on grayscale. The first machine failed to boot for no aparent reason. Color prinintg is becoming bad too, Even after we installed new cartridges, run calibration and clean nozzle feature. We also updated the software. Also, kodak does no provide OCR software (for this model) Quality was good when it was new.
Summary: I own two of the 5300 printers and neither would qualify to be a good boat anchor. They worked fairly well for a little while, then the print head problems started. Heads on both have been replaced and they worked for a little while then qiut. The one I have in Florida I replaced with an HP and the one here in Delaware with a canon. I am very dissapointed that Kodak has put these turkeys on the market and suck people into buying them based of lower cost ink cartridges.
Summary: Just over a year old and rapidly deteriorating. Poor print quality, needs constant head cleaning to print just one B&W document and has begun to use ink at a prodigious rate. Bought a black cartridge a few weeks ago that was empty!! Clunky and slow. Now looking for an alternative.
Pros: Was a relatively cheap AIO printer to start with...
Cons: ...but you get what you pay for. Rapidly dying after one year.
