Summary: I mainly bought this to scan & send to file or print ... especially old pictures. Either I have a lemon or this is beyond figuring out. One in ten times I actually get it to scan. The rest of the time it does a bunch of odd blinking & freezes up. I then have to shut down my machine. And yes I have reinstalled. It gets worse with age. Copies & prints okay though.
Summary: I purchased this printer directly from HP in February 2009. On one occasion I had to call HP Total Care for assistance in activating the Blue Tooth feature. After spending almost two hours on the phone speaking with a tech somewhere in the east, and being put on hold more than once as the tech sought asssistance from someone else, I had to hang up, as I felt I was going nowhere and the problem still exists.
Summary: I have an old HP 990 that still runs like a dream so I was hoping my new Photosmart C5580 would be even slicker. Bad idea. It was a nightmare from day one. The paper jammed all the time. Then the printer would stall and seem to go into Neverneverland, where it was totally unresponsive. Attempts to turn it off were futile- it wouldn't shut off-I had to unplug it. It refused to print (in black) if one of its color cartridges was empty!
Summary: I have never had so many problems with a printer before in my life. This printer requires you to go out and purchase in addition to the printer a usb cord and a bluetooth wireless adapter. For some reason HP does not provide them in the box. This items are necessary to print and scan.
Summary: What a mess this printer is to set up. Like the previous reviewer I had to install and uninstall the software for several hours, and spend several more googling patches to the problem. "Fatal error during installation" pops up during install - and never goes away. You close it and it pops back instantly. Need to uninstall - again - and ship the whole thing back. Garbage.
Summary: Let me first start out by saying that this is not my first time to add hardware to a computer. I've added audio cards, power supplies, fans, video capture cards, loaded all sorts of software, added scanners and printers, etc. many times over. This was my first time to try an HP product and I shall say it will be my last. PROS: Very sleek looking design, relatively compact and the 3-in-1 idea is practical. Price is very good for this item. CONS: Where or where to start.
