This printer eventually gets dementia

draagonfly "draagonfly", Amazon
8 March 2015
  • Summary: The only reason I'm giving this printer two stars instead of one is because it did work for a long time. The troubles I've had with it are the ink drying out super fast… I don't print very often, but I probably only got 10 pages out of the ink cartridges before they would dry up.

Sri, Amazon
23 March 2013

Poor build quality, do not buy.

Vector, Amazon
4 January 2013
  • Summary: I received this printer as part of an Apple rebate. The print and scan quality is fine, though ink is quite pricey. After using it for about 2 years for school related work, the printer developed the notorious restarting problem (Google "C4680 capacitor" and read the HP support forum for solution).

Skip It

Susan W "Why read when someone else can read to you.", Amazon
11 December 2011
  • Summary: It's a decent all-in-one when it works. After several uses, it begin experience difficulty booting up. Press the on botton, it beeps and beeps. You guessed it, beeped some more. You've to trick it (by opening the ink cover), in order to get it fully turned on.

Terrible If You're Using Special Paper

Shayne M. Whitehead "Shayne Michael", Amazon
10 September 2011
  • Summary: The paper feed is aweful if your using this printer to print business cards, DVD Jewel Inserts. Any kind of cardboard paper with any kind of perforation will not print right. And since the kind of paper I'm talking about is expensive it will be wasted. It's worked fine for me for traditional paper.

Mostly Disappointing

Edward P. Woo, Amazon
16 August 2011
  • Summary: I purchased this printer on clearance, hoping to use it as a replacement for my 12 year old HP 812C that had served me well for many long years but whose ink had become just a bit too expensive. Unfortunately, I suppose that the adage that you get what you pay for is appropriate in this instance.

Driver issues with windows7, scanner bugs

Harry Cade, Amazon
5 August 2011
  • Summary: The driver has a stupid bug that surfaced when I upgraded my OS from VISTA to windows7. I updated my drivers a dozen different ways, all resulted in the same scan error. Work-around, (stupid) open your interned browser and link to [...] Now the scanner will work. HP tech support was no help.

  • Summary: We've owned this printer for less than two years. I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because while it was working, I was happy with the ease of use, print quality, etc. Then one day, without warning, it just stopped working.

It was fine until it stopped working

Christy, Amazon
2 June 2011
  • Summary: I owned this printer for just about a year- a short enough time that I thought it might still be under warranty. I kept the printer in great condition; it always looked new out of the box. When I bought it, the setup was simple enough.

Beware! This printer has a mind of its own!

kamjan, Amazon
7 March 2011
  • Summary: I have had this printer for about a year and a half. In the last couple of months, it has taken on a life of its own. When it is turned on, it continuously cycles through scanning and/or copying and then printing out papers that have faint boxes on them.
