Ink Cartidges don't last
William Spillman, Amazon
29 May 2012
Summary: I buy the XL HP-branded cartridges for this printer, and they expire or otherwise stop working even when I haven't used much of the ink. Resetting the ink levels in the firmware doesn't fix the issue. After a couple months, the printer just keeps printing light and blotchy no matter what I do to the cartridges. They aren't low on ink, they just can't put it on the paper evenly. Cleaning the print heads--manually or with the software--does not help.
Good document printer and scanner, but don't buy it for photos or copying
26 February 2011
Summary: Purchased in July 2007 - but never really used as a photo printer because of how quickly the ink quality would diminish after only a couple of 4x6 or 8x10 prints. Scanner works very well but copier only works well on a *** setting. Now that I'm especially an on-the-go photographer and student, spending as much as I am on inks for this printer has made me realize I need a better solution.
Summary: I purchased this printer because it was discounted with my computer purchase 4-5 years ago. I had so many issues with this printer. Every time I change the printer I receive 1 or 2 messages: carriage jam or paper jam..even though there is no paper. So, I keep fooling with it (and wasting ink in the process)to get it working. Once some of the ink is out, the printer starts to work again. It is like the printer doesn't work with too much ink.
Pros: It is reliable in printing quality and scanning. Scan quality is not good enough for a photographer but perfectly fine for me.
Cons: I wish it would fax too. Printer ink is so darn expensive but 1 cartridge lasts almost a month if you print on ultra light otherwise new cartridge every two weeks. It will also NOT print unless the color cartridge is in with enough ink.
Summary: I feel ok having this printer however, the shipping was awful! the box looked like it came from a jungle. Several parts of the printer fell down and I had to fixed it. Don't know what happened anyways, the printer works fine.
Pros: I use the x74 and 75 XL ink as I like to print recipes. Prints great and have no problems there.
Cons: Ever since got updates can't print second page. Have to go into printer dialogue box to open the print 2nd page to flip it over. No sense getting help they don't know anything just send you a list to do. Stupid!
Pros: Prints docs and web stuff, copies, and scans fine. Able to accommodate heavy weight paper and various sized envelopes. This pictures are fine for a $65 printer. For basic office, student work, you can rely upon it.
Cons: It drinks the ink. Copying is terribly slow. Confusing scan feature; must use HP Solution Center shortcut or you'll have no idea where your scans went (not in the My Scan folder). Card slots needs a cover-my 2yr old puts coins in them.
