pay more for the ink than the printer

  • Excerpt: Like all of us we all have our own opinion. But Mine is somewhat validated with this piece of expensive techno money sucking decent picture printing wallet killer. If you have the money in you pocket and want nice pictures, then this is for you. If you want something that doesn't require you to refill the ink after just a couple prints then steer clear of this.

"terrible on ink"

russwcollins, CNET
21 November 2009
  • Pros: fast printing, easy to set up and use
  • Cons: The ink cartridges last no time or dry up. When I print, the print quality is terrible, color not saturated even though the printer says there is plenty of ink left. Also, comp will not recognize any other devices in USB plugs when printer is on.

HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, and Copier

  • Summary: This printer is great looking. It prints photographs well, but they came out dark. I received it free from Apple with purchase of an iBook. I believe the reason HP 3180 is free is because it runs through ink at an alarming rate, one will end up paying for the 'free' printer in above average ink cartridge purchases.

HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, and Copier

DavidJudd, Rate it all!
24 November 2008
  • Summary: Mine's just stopped working, after 13 months of fairly light usage. It seems mechanically unreliable. I've had problems with it for some time - after I replaced the first printer cartridges, it began occasionally leaving lines with too little ink across the paper, requiring me to re-print documents. Now, after I just replaced another cartridge, the cartridge carrier is jammed, and the printer is completely unable to function.

  • Pros: -Good quality prints incl. decent photos.
  • Cons: -uses up so much costly ink. -not easy finding generic cartridges for it.

Acceptable quality at high maintenance cost

cml67, epinions.com
8 January 2008
  • Summary: I wouldn't recommend this printer because of the high maintenance costs due to the high amount of inks used and the absence of affordable generic cartridges.
  • Pros: Easy to use, good print quality
  • Cons: Uses lots of inks, not affordable generic cartridges

"5 ml of ink. One teaspoon!!"

rcbarb26, CNET
2 August 2007
  • Pros: Prints well
  • Cons: It is an ink HOG. Uses ink fast, especially the black. HP offers a dual black pack. But no one carries it.
