Doesn't last long!

  • Excerpt: This printer was mine about 2 years ago then my oldest daughter went to college and I gave it to her to print reports, and so on. Then the Christmas after her graduation she gave it to my youngest. She uses the computer like there is no tomorrow! We put it first at home and it kept saying no paper. We pressed the continue button but it's like it is frozen. So we brought it to work and no one could fix it not even my oldest.

Works well.....if you only have two years to live

  • Excerpt: THIS PRINTER IS THE WORST. It was on its best behavior when I bought it (on sale, which should have been my first clue), and I was pretty taken with the myriad features - the printing, scanning, and copying all worked like a charm. About a year later, the printer started having trouble picking up the blank pages in the print tray and feeding them into the machine by itself, which meant I had to stand by it and feed every page in manually at precisely timed intervals.

"Barely Functional"

chmplax, CNET
20 December 2010
  • Pros: The low price
  • Cons: Can hardly handle the simplest of tasks, when printing on thin or thick paper it jams up and will not print. Not worth the time required to use, even if product was free.

"way to much junk before it decides to do anything."

  • Pros: copier / scanner.
  • Cons: junk. Absolutey no support when it dies. Mine went in funk mode that prints a new page of waste ink and paper test mode every time it powers up.

  • Summary: I too got this printer for free when I bought my mac. And even still I think its a horrible waste. It worked well for a few months; i probably printed about 20 times and only a few weird paper jams, etc. But after a few prints the ink will run out! I've never seen ink run out so fast. Now I can't print anything.

  • Summary: MS Office 2007 will not work properly in XP or Vista if this printer is selected as the default unless the registry is edited. Contact HP for help with this. HP says the problem was created by an Office 97 update. They were slow to acknowledge this problem, but they did eventually develop a fix, though I was unable to find it on the HP Website and had to contact Tech Support to get it.

A Big Waste of Money

claufer, epinions.com
10 May 2008
  • Summary: Stay away from this printer. The ink cartridges are expensive, the printer uses an immense amount of inks, photos print in pink only, customer service is totally incompetent and inadequate.
  • Pros: Quick and Easy Setup
  • Cons: Horrible customer service, photos come out pink, ink usage is horrendous, cartridges are expensive.
