  • Summary: I too got this printer for free when I bought my mac. And even still I think its a horrible waste. It worked well for a few months; i probably printed about 20 times and only a few weird paper jams, etc. But after a few prints the ink will run out! I've never seen ink run out so fast. Now I can't print anything.

HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, and Copier

  • Summary: MS Office 2007 will not work properly in XP or Vista if this printer is selected as the default unless the registry is edited. Contact HP for help with this. HP says the problem was created by an Office 97 update. They were slow to acknowledge this problem, but they did eventually develop a fix, though I was unable to find it on the HP Website and had to contact Tech Support to get it.

A Big Waste of Money

claufer, epinions.com
10 May 2008
  • Summary: Stay away from this printer. The ink cartridges are expensive, the printer uses an immense amount of inks, photos print in pink only, customer service is totally incompetent and inadequate.
  • Pros: Quick and Easy Setup
  • Cons: Horrible customer service, photos come out pink, ink usage is horrendous, cartridges are expensive.

Stay away from this printer!

  • Excerpt: HP Photosmart C3180 This is the first all in one printer I bought about 4 or so years ago. This will work on Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7. I have had an awful experience with this which I will try to explain in this review. This connects to your PC via a USB cable and it requires a power cable as well. It has a scanner and printer and it can also be used as a photocopier. It does most of these tasks but it takes forever especially when printing.

12 months 4*, after that no go!

hh00010, Amazon
25 January 2010
  • Summary: For the first 12 months it seemed to work fine and I would have given it 4 starts, the only thing letting it down was the annoying software. By 12 months things were starting to go wrong. Needs to print a test page every time you print, not recognising paper. Stops working for no reason. Driver updates don't work...

Junk

P. E. Morse "Reviewer997", Amazon
6 December 2009
  • Summary: I had this printer for about 13 months before it started showing an error that no print cartridges were inserted when they were. I looked up the problem on the internet and there are hundreds of people with exactly the same issue. I have tried fixing it using the directions but it hasn't worked. Considering HP have been making printers for so long you'd expect better than this.

Maybe it's personal!

  • Summary: Having read reviews with full of praise, I can only think that my experience is unusual, hence the title. My star rating is, in fact, no stars. On my old computer, nearly two years ago, now, on XP Professional, after myriad of trouble with installation and reinstallation, the famous 'HP Solution Centre' disappeared without trace. After exchanging emails 7 or 8 times with HP support(?) I was told my case would be referred to the Advanced Support Team(?).

Worst print I ever had

Cff Dos Santos "Carlos Franco", Amazon
1 August 2008
  • Summary: I bought this printer in US to realize the UK Inks would fit, but would not work. After "paying" for new 3180 in UK, it begin having problems only one month after the purchase. By them I had no warranty anymore! From paper jammed to cartridge malfunctions, it had it all. Avoid it.

good hardware .... software seems an after thought

Amazon Customer, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this printer 9 months ago, and have decided to vent my frustration here. The software for this is poor (I am an application developer). Its not intuitive or easy to use. The online update opens windows all the time even though I have it disabled in configuration. It crashes my laptop often after scanning. Its like software from the mid 90s. I would avoid this printer, and will probably avoid HP next time.

Vista compatibility/ hp POOR support

Mr. Darren W. Oates "darrenoates", Amazon
17 March 2008
  • Summary: Like many other reviewers, HP do a great job when you first buy this. Unfortunately after a while things go wrong and the support from HP is extremely poor to say the least. All they needed to do was send us a disk to update the drivers (like they have done for all US customers) rather than the download which does not work. Your money is better spent elsewhere if you don't want to spend 20 hrs trying to get this working.
