Great printer...until the black ink stops printing
25 June 2014
Summary: I really loved this printer for the first year or so that I owned it. The WiFi capability was really handy and I thought the photo quality was good. However, like many, many people on the HP support forums, at some point after the warranty was up, the printer completely quit printing black ink. I've always used HP cartridges and I've tried doing the print head cleaning, alignment, resets, etc. but nothing works.
Good for 2 1/2 years but has fallen apart! Expensive ink...

Summary: I bought this printer based on positive reviews on Consumer Reports and elsewhere. Despite the ink being very expensive ($50 for full set) and seeming to run out frequently despite not a lot of use, it has worked well as a wireless printer. However, it recently starting displaying a cartridge jam error message. I followed the on-screen recommendation to clear it.
Summary: Print quality isn't bad but it uses ink like a Hummer uses gas. It also takes a long time to start printing. About 2 months after the warranty expired it stopped printing black ink. I tried every solution on the Hp support site, using up all my color cartridges in the process, but nothing has worked. The only solution left is to send it to Hp but the shipping alone is half the cost of the printer.
Summary: worked OK for about a year, and then the black ink stopped working. HP only provides a 1 year warranty, and that means they won't even talk to you over the phone! They wanted me to pay $25 just to talk to tech support. That is ridiculous. After googling for a while, I found a message board that said this is a software issue, and to fix it they suggest installing another driver from a different printer! Really HP?! This is how you make your products these days?
Summary: Quite simply, it worked great until it didn't work at all. Got less than two years out of it before the black printing head went dead. Spent a couple of hours on forums trying different official hp and user suggested solutions. Nothing worked. Cartridges are pretty pricey, too.
Summary: after I got the printer I got the wireless router and tried to run the printer wireless. It says it is wireless on the setup, but it wont print. I get the up grades from HP and I cant load them also after calling them, they also couldn't get it to run wireless and they can't tell me why, so I have it running with it plugged in, I am not happy and don't know what to do about it. Not happy with the printer or the company.
Summary: Do a search on this model not printing black ink -- WAY too many hits. What seems to happen FAR too often is the print head clogs and can't unclog even with the on-board tools. And since the print-head is not removable for manual cleaning, you have a $100 paperweight. Like the one I have. When it's working it prints pretty nice images, but consider yourself warned. Oh... and even when working "properly" it eats a ton of ink.
Excerpt: Although I like the printer, especially the front and back printing function, it blows through too much ink too quickly. I have it set on the Draft setting and it still goes through ink. For that reason alone, I would not recommend it.
