Cable only

Jonny, Amazon
16 January 2015
  • Summary: It prints. It's able to photocopy and scan. What I really dislike was the fact that I was never able to set up wireless printing. I always have to use the cable. I have a Mac book Pro and this seems like there printer was not compatible with this operating system. I called customer service and we basically went around in circles without finding a solution. I was very disappointed that the software engineers of this product do not take into account all platforms.

Stopped taking paper feed.

timothy lilley, Amazon
13 January 2015
  • Summary: Stopped taking paper feed. Wheels spin but simply wont grab paper. Cleaned the wheels and printer head and tried every other option under the sun with tech support. Printer is now a paper weight. When it was working, it printed pretty good quality, however paper jams were an issue. I wouldn't recommend. Will last you a year then time to purchase another.

No greyscale printing.

R. Haeckler, Amazon
28 September 2014
  • Summary: There is no way to print images in greyscale if you run out of color ink. Even colored text will just not be there. Software is very, very limited. Photo images if they are with text are terrible. It's really only good for printing black and white text, and even then the paper tray malfunctions often.

the black ink problem

Graham Stalker-wilde, Amazon
23 August 2014
  • Summary: Worked fine until "the black ink problem". Black ink ran out, I changed the cartridge, to a genuine HP replacement, and it stopped printing black altogether. A lot of other people seem to have had this problem, but HP refuse to admit there's a fault.

Very termpermental

John D. Randolph "Bratschekind", Amazon
23 June 2014
  • Summary: Very often when printing I will get the error message that the printer is not connected. I use a cable and I never disconnect the printer. Every time this happens I have to power down the printer and restart. Very annoying. I've never had that issue with another printer. I would avoid this printer.

Poor quality for an HP product

Gwaithmir, Amazon
29 May 2014
  • Summary: I purchased my HP Photosmart 5520 from Staples about a year and a half ago. It worked well up until a couple of months ago. The reason I chose the HP brand was because I was replacing an old HP printer which had given me reliable service for well over five years. After fewer than 1000 text pages, the model 5520's printer head has experienced catastrophic failure.

RATATATATA... BANG BANG BANG... CLUNK. RATATATTATATA

Csaba Szalontai "csaba", Amazon
26 May 2014
  • Summary: Prints fine.Mostly I print photos on flossy hp photo paper and I don't really see any paper jam. I had 1 paper jam. i had to clear the inside out because there were some cat hair on the pinch rollers. The biggest problem of this machine is how loud it is. It will wake up the dead. You can not print at night because you will piss someone off in the next room. I am not joking! I have no clue what is it doing but it is not the printing.
