Gulps ink even when seldom used

RoboTeach, Amazon
1 January 2015
  • Summary: This printer does a good job of printing. Unfortunately, it uses massive quantities of ink even if you barely use it. I have an HP Officejet Pro printer that sips ink and it's output is as good as a laser printer. Its super fast. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, it is not designed for photos. I got this for printing out large photos and coupons and to copy black and white documents. I almost never use it.

Stay away from this printer, and avoid all other ink jet printers!

Amazon Customer, Amazon
29 December 2014
  • Summary: This printer literally lasted less than 500 pages, a year and a half of casual use. I know this because i just finished the original ream of 500 pages of printing paper that i bought with this printer at the end of 2012. This is the second printer of the same model that i have owned, since the original one that i bought had a touchscreen that went bad. The original printer was still under warranty, so getting it replaced was no issue at the time.

  • Summary: Printer has worked fine for the last year or so with just an occasional paper jam. Ink costs, like most HP printer ink, is a big expense. Out of the blue, the touchscreen went fuzzy and does not accept any commands. I am sure it would cost too much to fix versus just buying a new one. I think I am going to avoid units with touch screens, they just seem destined to fail with all that finger poking.

Dr. John, Amazon

  • Summary: Worst POS printer I have ever had. Printhead clogs and won't print black. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER!!! It is a waste of money. Clogged printhead, no warranty help and no way to remove printhead without total disassembly.

Clyde Claire, Amazon
31 August 2014
  • Summary: I just wanted to add one more 1-star review in an attempt to warn prospective buyers from this defective product. As many others (just do a Google search for '5514 won't print black') have stated, the printer stopped printing with blank ink. There does not appear to be a solution except replace the printer.

  • Summary: My Photosmart 5514 had performed well for me until recently when it no longer would print black . I contacted HP support he did the usual unplug, turn off computer etc. He then said it was my computer that was the problem and for $200.00 he could fix it for me. I told him the printer costs less than that and that is stupid. I then started looking on line for solutions and found that this is a frustrating problem for 'as one email stated thousands of customers.
