Summary: We have had this printer for years and I think it's made me curse with EVERY print job. I've used several mac and pc computers and it always is flaky about picking up my print job. Then, my husband will come over, do the EXACT SAME THING I did, and it will magically decide to work. We've decided that it's possessed and doesn't like me. That was the joke for years. I'm finally done with the joke and ready for a different printer.
Summary: Admittedly, this is not a new printer. It has given me many years of good service, both with general printing and 4x6 borderless photos, in addition to copying, scanning and faxing. I feel I've paid for the printer in both the original purchase price and the many expensive ink cartridges it's required since. My main problem with it has been the two incidents of a plastic paper guide popping free and disabling the printer.
Summary: I use this in my classroom with cheap ink. It sits unused for 10 weeks every summer. Before that my father-in-law had it for years and it just sat. It scans. It prints. It does everything, via USB and wireless, with Macs and XP PCs. Couldn't ask for more. Built like a tank. Pick one of these up used and it'll do everything you like. The dedicated 4x6 photo tray is nice but it seems to shove the paper back. Hard to explain but it's not a problem per se.
Summary: I had this unit since December 2004. I had it exchanged 4 times in the first 3 years under the warranty period because of problems connecting to my wireless network and spontaneously shutting down. The connection spontaneously kept dropping off. It seamed that the reasons were always slightly different each time. It has currently been about 4 years that I have not been able to connect to the my home wireless network since my warranty expired.
Summary: I bought this printer about a year and a half ago. I had trouble with it right from the start. Now, it won't print black ink, even with a brand new cartridge that the printer display indicates is full. I did everything suggested on HP's web site. I spent two hours on the phone with tech support. In they end, they decided it was "hardware failure." I used this printer for home use only. It had not been used all that much.
Summary: I am an artist and do a lot of watercolor prints using this amazing printer. They are the finest quality and cannot be recognized as prints as the shading and color are so true. I attach a label to the back of each framed art piece stating the fact that they are fine quality prints from original watercolors so no one is fooled into thinking they are buying an original when its a print. The scanning quality is also easy and true.
Summary: I had an HP 3310 that had recently died. I really liked the printer/fax/scanner combination and was disappointed with the current crop of offerings. I particularly did not like the eFax and the lack of ability to scan negatives and slides on replacement printers. Plus I had a number of ink-jet cartridges that I wanted to use. I ordered the 3310. When it arrived everything worked except the FAX. That was one of the main reasons for buying the device.
Summary: Harsh rates on this..I owned mine for 4 years.Loved it ! Until dummy me pulled a jam paper from the back the wrong way and now cant fid the tiny piece of paper.I had no problems w/ any of the above mentioned.I have a friend Epson and I hate it !! I was looking @ HP 8600 and noticed the ratings bad too.. Not sure what to do.I call around to see if I can fix mine andall I hear ITS CHEAPER TO GET A NEW ONE..
