Summary: I have had this printer a few years. When I first received it, I had to send it back because it wouldn't grab the paper. Over the years, I have put up with the issue of misfed paper (about every 5-10 sheets). It will grab 2 sheets at a time, slightly offset, and print. This is particularly troublesome when trying to print double-sided (everything gets messed up, and you have to start your printing project over).
Summary: The printer is a great deal; however, my mother was never able to get her computer / software to recognize the printer. The printer requires Microsoft Vista which she doesn't have and doesn't want (have heard too many problems about that software).
Summary: This printer is really great for fast copies. The black and white prints are a little blurry even after several alignments and it could just be the printer I ended up with. Installation was a night mare because the installation CDs didn't work and I didn't have wireless at the time. The color copies are decent and the scanning works well. Can't say anything for the picture printing capabilities yet.
Summary: I purchased this all in one unit in order to scan slides and negatives as well as print. The results of scanning slides is AWFUL. Grainy, blurry, low quality and absolutely horrible. I'd get better result projecting them on a screen and taking a snapshot with my digital camera. If you buy this model because of its scanning adapter for slides, you are wasting your money!
Summary: I have owned this printer since August 06, and bought it reluctantly because of the problems described here, but I need a front paper loader and I have had very good luck with HP in the past. So I compromised and bought Staples' extended warantee, which I normally never do. So now, January 07, when I got the "out of paper" message with the tray full, I thought 'uh-oh, here's the problem everyone was complaining about.' However, it turned out that there was a paper jam.
