A good deal!

Anonymous, Newegg
25 August 2009
  • Summary: Download the drivers off of HP's page, do NOT use the CD's in the box, trust me.
  • Pros: Can't beat the price. Fast prints, decent photo quality (better than I expected). After initial setup, networked it, and is working like a charm. Lots of options, the software plays well with Vista and XP and the network. (Not the version on the CD's, get the drivers from HP's website) Includes y...
  • Cons: It will take a good 20 minutes for the printer to go through all the motions of the intialization, *before* you can install the drivers. Read a magazine while your waiting for this thing, it takes forever and sounds like a crippled autobot attempting to transform. Not quiet.

Great with a Mac, Low Cost Ink

Anonymous, Newegg
19 July 2009
  • Summary: The Mac software is good (not great), but not slow or resource consuming like the PC crrrap Software HP makes, but Windows blows in just about every other way, so I'll let the PC owners rip on that aspect.
  • Pros: I've been using these for about 3 years, buying my first at Costco for about $400. At Newegg's current price, this is a steal. The construction is mostly plastic, but still pretty sturdy. Scans are really good and it's a VERY FAST Inkjet printer, about twice as fast as my fastest Epson. The best ...
  • Cons: Auto Document Feeder often won't grab the pages, but the printer will give you the opportunity to fix it and proceed. Also, where you insert the printer heads, the plastic isn't well supported and can break if you press too hard. Worst part of this and many HP printers is the stupid chips in the ...

Great Buy!

Karl K., Newegg
9 July 2009
  • Summary: Had to ship for free to my family and $39 to ship to my APO (as apposed to the $109 to ship direct). Software works fine on my Vista 64bit laptop. Software suit (other an drivers) does not work on my XP system at work... this may be an issue with how they have the gov.
  • Pros: All-in-all a great all-in-one printer. I've printed a few hundred pages through it without as much as a hiccup. Fast, vivid, detailed prints in normal... haven't felt the need to lower to draft mode due to the sheer speed of the unit in normal. Scans are quick and accurate. Have run many tests on...
  • Cons: Had one miss feed with the ADF, my error though, the page was folded on the feeding edge. I straightened it out and fed it again with no problems. The duplexer wasn't a main focus when I bought this unit, just an added perk... I have noticed that when copying to duplex mode there is an additional...

As good as expected

Anonymous, Newegg
9 July 2009
  • Summary: After reading so much negative reviews A*mazon, this printer gives me surprises that I have encountered zero problem in installing and using it.
  • Pros: Very inexpensive price for a refurbished one on Newegg. really does everything, I especially like its direct scan which I set it scan document to a NAS net drive directory without even turning on a computer. Network sharing for all my computers, Easy to use third-party ink, no need to run cables ...
  • Cons: Big size, which is to be expected anyway. Photo print quality is not as good as those samples for Canon photo inkjet printer, which are virtually no difference or better from traditional photo store processed photo.

Solid reliable unit.

Michael W., Newegg

  • Summary: The ability to scan both sides of multiple documents into pdf files using the document feeder and any computer on the network is one way to help your office go paperless. This is a very valuable tool and I use one personally everyday.
  • Pros: Fast, Reliable, feature rich. My clients say they "like the simplicity of this unit."
  • Cons: As an IT service provider, I've personally installed 5 of these units and out of 5, 1 was Dead On Arrival, Newegg was prompt in shipping out a replacement.

Great Printer

Anonymous, Newegg
7 June 2009
  • Summary: for home use it seems the only consideration should be given to Hewlett Packard.
  • Pros: Cheap ink when considering how long a cartridge last, holds lots of paper for a home printer, Kudo's to HP for making available bare min software, came with attachment for two sided printing. trashed a brother mfc420cn/junk/high ink cost as well.
  • Cons: not one!

Very good printer!

George G., Newegg

  • Pros: Everything works great so far.
  • Cons: It is best to download updated software from HP website to avoid problems. Software included for XP did not work very well. Should have paid more attention to other reviews.

Impressive!

Jonathan S., Newegg
5 June 2009
  • Summary: I got this on sale here at the egg for like $125 brand new in the box. For that price it couldn't be beat. HP support is terrible, but at least their products hold up better than other brands such as Brother.
  • Pros: Good print quality, speed is pretty great for a InkJet. I have this printer joined to my local domain and am using it through my LAN. It works beautifully through the network. On it's web page it even has a nifty online scanner utility that will allow you to save the scanned documents locally to ...
  • Cons: Well I'm using this at home instead of at a office, so it's a bit loud for home use. Not too loud, but when it does its self cleaning routine it can be a little noisy. But it's a printer, and they are all noisy. So not really a con I guess.
