Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, Easy To Use, Fast Operation, Great Print Quality, Reliable
Summary: Comments about HP Officejet Pro L7680: Initially I was hesitant about purchasing the product because of the negative reviews I read. However, I already owned three HP printers and have not had any problems. So far I am pleased with the purchase. It is "As Advertised".
Summary: I had to replace another printer (not HP) which had started to jam and couldn't be easily cleared. I went for the 7680 as it was a duplex device (scan, copy and print), took individual ink cartridges and was networkable. Installation on a Vista machine was dead easy, I did download the installation software as this was more up to date than supplied. Installation (unlike other reports) was fast and required very little input from me.
Summary: I have owned the HP L7680 for close on 2 years. Summary of my experience? Print quality is excellent and consumable use is reasonable. I recommend using the XL cartridges, it will save you money. Installation of this printer was not without (driver) problems and took a considerable amount of time.
Summary: This is just a really great printer, it does the lot and considering the print quality, speed, build quality and versatility, I can't fault it. I began to suffer from asthma a couple of years ago and over time the fumes from my colour laser printer have become more and more annoying in my small home office. I've noticed this to a lesser extent from photocopiers at work, though being in a much bigger room that's not so much of a problem.
Summary: Printer is excellent - great quality, and very fast. But the software is a bit tricky to install. I use this printer on a home network, so it's connected to a router via an Ethernet cable. When installing the software on a Vista PC it couldn't see the printer, so I had to uninstall then reinstall - after which it worked fine. On an XP machine it was a bit more difficult. The software installed and found the printer, but the PC started running very slowly.
Summary: My first impression was good - the functions are very accessible and installed easily on both Vista PCs (not tried the XP machine yet). Features such as direct digital filing are excellent, quick and easy to use - now scanning direct to Maxtor Network Attached Storage and photocopying without the need to switch on a PC on at all. On the downside, the software driver has some issues.
