“ Poor Printer Many Problems ”
Summary: Within 8 months of purchase the printhead failed. HP sent another and all was well again. 2 months later the roller on the lower print tray went off track... Since I don't use the bottom tray I ignored it. Immediately after warranty was out the printhead died again. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a printer. I paid way over $300 and only got 1 year out of it. How fair is that??????? Not happy at all. I was a loyal HP customer.
Pros: The drivers work. I left lexmark printers behind because I never could get the network / wifi drivers to work correctly on any network setup I had. The only way Lexmark every worked correctly was if you use USB direct connection. Otherwise, it lost connection constantly. I went to HP because I wanted stable drivers that just worked. I have been running HP printer software on 3 OSes.. and all work fine.. XP, Win8, Win7. The app store they have is great, and the direct ...
Cons: Large unit.. but thats fine. a little noisy on startup of job, but again.. not a big deal.
Summary: I wanted an air printer for my Mac Book Pro and apple devices. This printer was listed as a recommended printer for Apples. It did link easily w/ all air devices, but would not link wirelessly to my Mac Book Pro. I spent HOURS trying to get it to link! I tried all the trouble-shooting recommendations on the HP website regarding use with Apple, none worked! I should not be this Difficult!
Summary: The printer works fine. All HP software works well with Windows 7. But on MAC, it is a completely different story. HP scan can not even save a whole image. What a shame HP!!! The HP software design on MAC is extremely poor.
Pros: very easy setup printer quality is very good.
Summary: First one arrived and Had a bad hard drive and had to pack it all back up to ship back. Replacement arrived a few day's later and it works great. Very easy to set up and does what I thought it would do after lots of time researching other brands, chatting with customer sales on line to make sure it would scan to email 25 copies at a time.
Summary: I had had an older but similar version of this HP. It worked fine for my husband on his non-mac but didn't work well for my daughter and I with our macs. I wanted a new printer and much to my horror he bought yet another HP . Seemed he believed everything the sales rep said but nothing I said! This printer has wasted hours of my time. I have had 2 network techie people here who can't figure out why it won't print wireless.
Summary: I was a little leery about getting an HP after coming from a Canon all-in-one that I loved. In fact, the only reason I had to replace my four year old Canon was because it would no longer wake up without a hard restart after I installed OSX 10.8.5 on my Mac. And neither Canon nor Apple had a software fix for that issue. When I previously bought my Canon, HP did not have separate inks for each color. Now this Officejet 8600 does. That makes printing much more economical.
Summary: I'm having problems coordinating the fax reception with my answering machine. Will try one more thing, having fax answer at 5 rings while answering machine is set at 4 rings. I will test tomorrow when I go to work and send a fax home. Hopefully, according to the manual, it will work. Also, had a problem getting phone service when cable company made me change modems. Couldn't solve the problem so cable co.
