Summary: Was looking for a dependable all-in-one to replace an inexpensive HP Deskjet 2514 that lasted less than 6 months before it quit pulling the paper through. I first saw an HP J6480 on a computer service call to hook up a new computer for an elderly couple. Their Linux Mint computer connected easily to the HP J6480 both wired and wirelessly. The couple raved about how well the printer had worked for them since they bought it new about 2010.
Summary: The good: Loads of useful built-in hardware including autoduplexer, auto-document feeder, Optical Character Recognition scanner; painless 802.11g wireless setup; excellent quality text, graphic, and photo prints. The bad: No PictBridge support; only three autodial fax buttons; slower than average photo prints. The bottom line: The HP Officejet J6480 has a lot of built-in features that are rarely found included in a $200 printer.
Summary: After about 3 years of home and business use, I am disposing of my HP 6480. Stats: 14,000 prints, 18 B&W, 15 tri-color cartridges. @$20 a cartridge, each print out makes it 14,000/(20x(15+18))=4.7 cents Which is low compared to what I expected. But I printed no photo, and most of my prints were fast draft quality. Quality has been great. I relied on this printer also for scans and faxes, and copies. Overall a bit slow, some jamming too.
Excerpt: Hewlett Packard Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer is a good printer for those who need to copy, print, fax, and scan on a regular basis. I obviously appreciate these multiple functions, but I also like the ability of the copier to produce a two- sided copy and the wireless capability of this Hewlett Packard device. "The Office Jet J6480 Works Great for a Great Price", the Hewlett Packard Officejet J6480 All-in-One Printer among the best printers.

Excerpt: I have owned and used via businesses many brands of printers. This is the second HP All-in-one I have owned. I still have the original HP Office Jet G-85 that I purchased in 2000 and it still runs great. When I have to travel out of town for several weeks at a time I pack up my new HP All-in-one J6480 and take it with me. It's great for business and pleasure. The features are easy to use and very helpful.
